19 years ago our country experience a horrific act of terrorism that we will never forget.  Sept. 11, 2001 forever changed our way of life.  We will also remember those that lost their lives: 2,763 in the twin towers, 343 firefighters and paramedics, 23 New York City police officers, 37 Port Authority police officers, 189 people at the Pentegon including 64 on American Airlines Flight 77 and 44 people that died on Flight 93 that crash landed in Pennsylvania.

Freshman Orientation

The Boone County Schools have put together a plan to help integrate our transition grade level students back into our buildings.  For high school students, this includes our ninth grade students that chose the hybrid in-person option.  The weeks of 9/14 and 9/21 we will begin this transition process.  This process is optional, but will include an opportunity for each ninth grader coming in with a small group of other ninth grade students for a two-hour period one day before the start of school.  The freshmen time slot will be 7:40-9:40 in the morning, with a bus ride to and from school.  They will return home with a grab and go lunch that will be provided by our cafeteria.

One important detail for this process, if your child could require medication while in our building (even in an emergency), I need you to contact our school nurse, Debbie Welsh (
Debbie.welsh@boone.kyschools.usand set up a time to drop off the medication, and fill out a medication form.  In a typical school day, would your child have medication on file, to take here at school?  If the answer is yes, I need you to go through that process before your child's assigned orientation.

While at school, they will receive orientation to our building which will the daily expectations and logistics of procedures for this school year and tour of the building.  They should enter either in the parent drop off zone in the front of our school or by bus through our bus loop/south entrance.

While students are here, it is required they were a mask, and the Cooper dress code applies.  Your cooperation in these matters are appreciated.

Your student has been assigned to Monday, Sept. 14, 7:40 a.m. - 9:40 a.m.

We are excited to begin seeing our students back in the building leading up to the hybrid in-person phase that begins on Monday, Sept. 28th.

September is National Suicide Prevention Month.  For the month of September mental health advocates, prevention organizations, survivors and community members come together to draw attention to the problem of suicide to promote suicide prevention.

Our counseling office has compiled a suicide information brochure for each student.  This is typically disseminated through our JAM class.  Please  click here to view the RCHS Suicide Brochure.

Transportation

Our transportation department has activated the Web Query system on the Transportation Web Page.  In order to access the correct link, you will need to know if your student is on the A or B hybrid schedule.

An email was sent out to all households on August 18th to inform parents/guardians whether their student was either Hybrid A or Hybrid B.  If you have already deleted this email, you can also find it in your Parent Portal Message Center Inbox.

You can find your students bus information by clicking on either the Hybrid A or Hybrid B Schedule above.  Complete your student's address and grade level and select go.  Click on Cooper to determine the bus arrival time for your street.
