March Comes in Like a Lamb
As lovely as the recent warm weather has been, it is far too early to pull the curtain on winter. The saying goes, "when March comes in like a lion, it goes out like a lamb." This year March came in like a lamb, and in my experience, that indicates unsettled spring weather. While meteorology may be an inexact science, there is little doubt that the nice weather has helped keep the pedal to the metal in the Central Oregon housing market. As we enter the time of year where you can golf, cycle, and ski all on the same day, is it any wonder everyone wants to live here? Another perk of spring is the Mt. Bachelor Spring Pass for $299, giving you up to 65 days of skiing starting March 27. The recreational opportunities available in Central Oregon are endless.

In March, we typically see home inventory rising as sellers bring houses to market for summer. This year, buyer demand has reduced days listed to single digits, with many homes going under contract before they hit the MLS. The strong buyer demand has prevented the build-up of inventory while keeping prices firm. Last week in Deschutes County, ninety-eight homes sold with a median sale price of 620k and four days on the market. Interestingly, the median list price was 594k, illustrating the impacts of multiple offers. Half of the homes sold last week were listed for less than four days!
