Food: The Glades Initiative Offers Food Distribution
The Glades Initiative offers food distribution to anyone in need - Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at 10 AM. Those coming in cars are asked to line up beside the office for drive-through pick-up on Wednesday, April 8, 2020, from 10:00 AM - 10:30 AM. Both drivers and walkers will receive food bags on a first-come first-serve basis.
Our staff and volunteers will wear personal protective gear as we handle and distribute the food bags. We ask that drivers and their passengers remain in their vehicles and practice social distancing measures to keep everyone safe.

Food: School Feeding Sites Open
School Food Service will continue serving meals to students throughout the school closure. Nutritionally-balanced 'Grab and Go' meals will be offered at school locations around the District. The meals will be distributed from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and are FREE to anyone under 18 years of age (under 22 for ESE students), regardless of financial need. The USDA has provided a waiver to allow parents/guardians to pick up meals without the child being present. The parent needs to provide confirmation of the number of children (student ID, passport, student library card, birth certificate, etc.) Two days' worth of meals provided each day.

Food Distribution Available to Local Seniors
Seniors who are in need of food should contact the Elder Helpline at 866-684-5885. The PBC Senior Centers are still being used as distribution sites and Palm Tran continues to deliver food to the homes of seniors.

From Mental Health America of Palm Beach County: In response to the COVID-19, the MHAPBC office will be closed, with all employees working remotely. During this time, the following services will be available:

Per Household LIHEAP Benefit Assistance Increased
From Palm Beach County Community Services Department: The Community Action Program has great news! Effective today, 4/1/2020, the LIHEAP benefit limits per household have increased. The benefit amount will depend on total household income, household composition, and if there are any elderly, disabled or children under age 6 in the household.

If You Lost or Did Not Receive Census Invitation - Respond to Census 2020 Online or by Phone
Residents who have not received their Census 2020 invitation in the mail are encouraged to respond online and be counted. Residents can go online at
my2020census.gov on their home computer, the library, use their cell phone to go online or they can call a toll free number and someone will answer their call and ask the questions at 1-844-330-2020.
The current response rate for the Glades is as follows: Right now the City of Pahokee's response rate is 14.6%, South Bay's is 18.5% and Belle Glade's is 14.7%.
