Margaret M. Parker, MD, MCCM, and Scott L. Weiss, MD, FCCM, discuss the release of "Surviving Sepsis Campaign International Guidelines for the Management of Septic Shock and Sepsis-Associated Organ Dysfunction in Children,” published in the February 2020 issue of
Pediatric Critical Care Medicine (Weiss S, et al.
Pediatr Crit Care Med. 2020;21(2);e52-e106). The podcast covers challenges in implementing the pediatric guidelines in resource-limited areas and key recommendations for resuscitation of children with sepsis and septic shock.
Description: Providers play a decisive role in the identification and early treatment of children who have sepsis. This training module shows prehospital and emergency medicine clinicians how to identify, assess, and begin treatment for pediatric patients with sepsis. In addition, coordination of care with emergency department and critical care staff is discussed. Providers will learn the latest update, as well as take home knowledge of how they can make the biggest difference for the littlest patients.

Feasible, Actionable, Impactful, Relevant (F.A.I.R.) EMS Measurement Project
|
|
The National EMS Quality Alliance (NEMSQA), in collaboration with the Florida Department of Health Division of Emergency Preparedness and Community Support, is facilitating a national Call for Measure Concepts for the Feasible, Actionable, Impactful, Relevant (F.A.I.R.) EMS Measurement Project. This project, funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, intends to develop rural-relevant quality measures to be used in the EMS community.

. The Call for Concepts Survey will remain open until Wednesday, March 11, 2020.
Building quality measures for the EMS community will allow agencies to collect and analyze data to determine their practice needs and improve their quality of patient care. The purpose of this Call for Measure Concepts period is to collect ideas for
new
quality measures. Some examples of quality measure concepts include: obtaining pediatric weight in kilograms, assessing injured patients for pain, administration of beta agonist for pediatric asthma, and effectiveness of pain management for injured patients.
