3-FOOT SOCIAL DISTANCING MEANS MORE STUDENTS IN CLASS
|
The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) recently released Revised Public Health Guidance for Schools, which provides important updates to mitigation strategies and safe in-person learning.
The updated guidance reduces social distancing from 6 feet to “no less than 3 feet in order to provide in-person learning.” As a result of the new spacing guidance, we can accommodate more students per classroom and will be able to honor additional requests for students wanting 4 days of in-person learning. If you choose in-person learning, either 2-day or 4-day, please know that social distancing in classrooms will be between 3-6 feet. If your student would like to attend 4 days of in-person learning, or if your student recently returned for in-person learning and you are concerned regarding LT’s plan to adhere to the updated 3 feet guidelines, please e-mail your student(s) grade-level Assistant Principal.

POST SPRING BREAK CALENDAR
|
As we plan for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year, please review the tentative April/May calendar with students. Due to state testing and non-attendance days, the weekly schedule includes some inconsistencies from week to week, so it is important to review carefully. If it becomes necessary to make changes to this calendar, we will communicate those changes to our community.

RESOURCES TO MANAGE STRESS VIRTUALLY
|
This school year has been particularly difficult for many and can be overwhelming. Sometimes it can be hard to figure out how to work through difficult times. A Virtual Calming Room through Canvas has been designed to assist students in locating different strategies and tools for managing their emotions. In addition to the many links, tips, and strategies to manage stress, students can also make appointments with their counselors and social workers.

BPA MEMBERS HEADED TO NATIONALS
|
Congratulations are in order for members of the Business Professionals of America club. Students recently competed in statewide contests, and one team and six individuals qualified to compete at the national level in one dozen different categories.
There were three multiple winners – senior Daniel Kiely, senior Mira Dedhia and junior Yoonho Cho, who will compete in multiple categories at the national level. In addition to head-to-head events, there were open categories which entailed tests where members had to reach a certain score to advance to nationals. Four LT team members qualified in six different open categories.
The BPA national competitions will be held this May. For the complete list of BPA national qualifiers, click BPA State Winners.
