Executive Director's Message - Jenny Berg

Do you remember six months ago as shutdowns began, what we thought September might look like? Surely we’d be back to “normal”, right? Wrong. So much has changed in how, when, where and with whom we work. Close your eyes today and imagine - what will life be like in six months? We may have a more realistic peek into the future because of the past. What have we learned that we carry into the future?
-
Volunteers are the lifeblood of an organization - that never changes. Leadership Council is grateful for our many volunteers - Mentors for new ED’s, Leaders Circle facilitators, BOLD Steering Committee, BOLD Mentors, and more - all who’ve shifted, stepped up, spoken up, and shown up as our needs increased.
-
Strategic partnerships must be developed - over the years we’ve developed strategic relationships with others who’ve provided annual content that our members need, want, and cannot get enough of! Organizations like Pro Bono Partnership of Ohio, Valarie Willis Consulting, International Leadership Associates, Camp Joy, Next Step Networking, Mayerson Academy, and more. We also continually develop new partnerships with organizations like Black Achievers and Patrice Borders, Prevention Strategies, LLC.
-
We must continually learn - not only have we changed how, and where we deliver our Leadership Council programs to you, we’ve added more programs and resources that meet today’s needs. And we’ve incorporated some fun along the way using tools like flipgrid (check out our BOLD 3 flipgrid Here), breakout rooms, polling, and VideoScribe.
-
There’s always time for gratitude - we are grateful to our members - all 223 agencies, for joining us on this journey to build capacity, connect, and collaborate even if convening isn’t in the cards. We are grateful to our funders and sponsors who support our programming to develop nonprofit leaders and strengthen our community.
We don’t have a “crystal ball” that paints a clear picture of six months from now, but if we focus on these four areas, I’m confident we will be stronger than ever.
Jenny

Cincinnati Preschool Promise

The Cincinnati Preschool Promise makes high-quality preschool accessible and affordable for families in the Cincinnati Public School district. Three and four-year olds who attend high-quality preschools are more successful in kindergarten and beyond. CPP offers tuition assistance for parents, works with Community-Based Preschool Providers to build capacity and reach high quality, and supports initiatives to recruit and retain Preschool teachers. Over the last three years, CPP has positively impacted 7,000 children with tuition assistance and better quality preschool programs.
CPP has a small team of six that welcomed me to Cincinnati Preschool Promise as Executive Director and CEO in October of 2019. Prior to CPP, I held leadership roles at the Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio, the American Civil Liberties Union of Georgia, and the American Institute for Managing Diversity. Read More
