Project H.O.P.E.
Reverend Dr. Michael Minor

Given the  impact upon people of color due to health disparities the National Baptist Congress developed the Health Outreach and Prevention  Education Initiative (H.O.P.E.). This workshop will focus on how   individuals and churches can work to provide health education and screening programs and secure information and resources to improve the health of individuals, families, and the community.

 

Who Moved My Church?
Reverend C. Omar Evans

This course will deal with the church "adapting to the new normal" . A  pandemic and the overwhelming desire to keep people safe have forced churches to make immediate change. Normally this type of change would take longer and go through periods of development and approval. The  reality of the times is change is happening with or with-out normal processes and procedures.

 

Digital Discipleship
Reverend Dr. Sedgwick V. Easley

This class will explore the most effective methods of using technology as a means to discipleship. Class will further examine various models of evangelism to be successful in a digital world. At the end of class  participants will understand that technology can be both a blessing and a deterrent. Students will also understand the urgency to use technology to  enhance ministry on all levels.

 This workshop will focus on reimagining evangelism in a digital age.  Methods and techniques will be discussed to enhance participants effectiveness in sharing the gospel with others. The goal of this  workshop will be to reignite the passion individuals and the church for the essential  ministry of evangelism.

 

The Church and Social Action

This workshop will focus on empowering and enabling churches to be salt and light in their communities. Emphasis will be placed on making connections and collabo   rating    with      community organizations and businesses to bring needed resources and programs into your community.

 

Reaching and Keeping Those Under 40
Reverend Daniel Blackburn

This course will focus empowering church leaders and    m embers to build bridges and make connections with those under    40. Social media and digital technology tools will be discussed that aid in engaging and keeping those under 40 connected to the church and church life. Different social media platforms will be discussed and their strengths and weaknesses for reaching different genera-tions as well as strategies and methodologies for building relation-ships and ministering to those under 40.

This setting provides strategies, insights and examples of how involvement in social justice activities can enhance ministry and build relationship with neighbors within the church neighborhood.

 

At Home Bible Study and Spiritual Development

With the COVID-19 pandemic, now more than ever, the home must be a source for Bible Study and spiritual development for the family. This course will explore strategies and tools for planning at home bible studies and aiding in family Bible Study and spiritual   development.

 

Dealing with Death, Devastation, and Depression

This workshop will explore those significant losses we will experience during life's journey."  We will look at the grief that comes with death, divorce,  unemployment and other important losses that may impact your life. We will look at how it feels and affects our lives and the lives of those around us. We will search together to find meaning in grief/loss and will discover spiritual and secular coping strategies that will help us lessen the pain and promote healing.

This course will focus on enabling people to mature in their Christian walk.  Emphasis will be placed on spiritual formation of a new generation of believers such as  millennials and generation Z.      

5007-Leading Change (Elective)

This course will help students identify, develop, and implement skills for leading change and transition in the local church.     

7001-Building A Healthy Church (Elective/PATP Ph. 4) 
Rev. John Simon

This course will help both leaders and members in the local church understand the importance of being a healthy church in the community. Biblical principles shall be studied to  effectively move a stagnant ministry to a flourishing congregation.    

 

9024-Computers In the Life of The Church (Phase 4) 
Rev. Dr. Shanell Turpin

This course will focus on the use of social media and technology to provide and maintain quality worship,  ministry, and Christian education  programs  in the local church.

 

NOTE: To receive credit for certified courses, both virtual class sessions must be attended and outside reading and homework assignments must be comleted and turned in instructors to receive course card (This additional work is required to supplement in class instruction hours).
