Hello, awesome elementary teachers, and thank you for another great day of serving Shelby County's amazing students!

As you know, we have had challenges with Microsoft Teams and the use of video streaming since we returned to in-person learning on March 1. Some days and times have been better than others; however, as you've told us in many ways, our virtual learning tools simply must perform better!

When we met with your principals yesterday, we presented these PowerPoint slides. Please take a few minutes to review the slides. The bottom line of the presentation is this: we are working on hardware solutions that will be up and running the week after Spring Break, but we need your help (the behavioral solutions) to make things better as well. Several schools across the District tried the "lids down" approach today, for example, and our bandwidth improved by 50%!

Please take three minutes to check out our video, and then implement whatever steps you and your students can take to help save bandwidth, like muting Microsoft Teams video whenever you can and directing students to close their computers ("lids down") when you're showing a video to all of the in-person students on a Promethean board, TV monitor or projection screen.

Again, thanks for all you do for students and SCS!
