On January 11, Faro de Luz celebrated Three King's Day with toys, groceries, and a special meal. Although we couldn't celebrate with the same activities as usual, the kids had fun choosing their toy from a wide spread. And to make it even better, they enjoyed a burger and chips on their way out! There were so many people that the 200 burgers we prepared ran out quickly. Every year our communities grow and we are grateful for your continued support that make these traditions possible.

While kids chose their toys, families received a pack of nutritious groceries. Thanks to your donations and Heaven on Earth NOW, no one left empty-handed. In fact, we gave out groceries to 80 families - 30 more than usual! Together we continue to work towards food security and building a stronger community both physically and emotionally.

Every year Faro de Luz expands, reaching more individuals and families across the community of El Ranchito. Although the pandemic has put some of their plans on hold, they have big goals for 2021 and welcome you to be a part of them.

1. Help to improve grades through tutoring and providing access to education.
2. Enhance counseling services as a resource for individuals and families.
3. Build an additional section for more classrooms (they don't fit anymore!)
4. Build a soccer field so the kids no longer play in the streets.

The holidays in Cumbres are always received with such festivity and love. This year was special for Jonathan and Naidelyn, who received a house last October. Eileen Hahn, who visits every year, had the pleasure of celebrating with gifts in their new home. This continuing support and love between sponsor and family is what brings the light and heart to Casas de Luz and why we are so grateful for our amazing sponsors.

While Cumbres has not been able to continue with their breakfast club, they have been delivering monthly groceries in the community. Last month, families were so grateful to have food during the holidays and hope the program can continue into the new year. Even one meal takes a little bit of weight off of their shoulders, allowing families to continue working towards a successful future.

Witnessing the transformation of Cumbres has been one of the most rewarding experiences for everyone involved. But they are not stopping here! Check out their goals for 2021.

1. Expand our reach to offer resources to more families across Cumbres.
2. Continue building educational programs for adults and children.
3. Involve more youth in community activities.

Sheds are at the end of the parking lot of the church if coming from the North. If you are coming from the South, take Via de la Valle and drive towards the ocean. On Del Mar Downs Road, turn right and continue until the end of the road where you will turn left. Drive left up the hill and the sheds will be on your left! There is a rope protecting our sheds from being a dump zone, so feel free to drop off your usable donations right there! Please contact us so we know to expect it!
