Today's COVID-19 Update: April 3, 2020
Note : When we resume distance learning after Spring Break (April 14), the District will be reducing the frequency of these daily updates as schools, teachers, and students continue to establish connections and increase regular communication.

School closure updates: Next steps and works in progress
Earlier today we announced that we will not be reopening our campuses and will continue distance learning for the rest of the school year. Here are some additional updates:

Spring Break will continue as planned from April 6-13 so that our teachers and staff who have been working these past three weeks to transition to distance learning can rest and spend time with loved ones. On April 14, when we return from Spring Break, teachers and students will get reacquainted with our distance learning platform and proceed with remote instruction.

Special education: Our District has created a plan for children to receive special education and related services during the COVID-19 school closure. Case managers and support staff are working diligently to set up a variety of specialized distance learning supports based on students' individualized needs. These supports may include, but are not limited to:

  • online instruction
  • Internet-based curriculum, links, and videos
  • telephonic instruction
  • sending home packets or paper copies of assignments
  • sending lists of work to be completed at home
  • consultation

A detailed letter with more information has been mailed to all families of students with IEPs.

Grading: At this time student work is not being graded. We are reviewing state guidance and working with our teachers, principals and counselors to implement the guidance. We will provide an update as soon as more information is available.
Graduation ceremonies: We share our students' and families' desires to acknowledge and celebrate the successes and achievements of our graduating seniors. We are committed to working with our students, families, and school leaders to find creative ways to accomplish this in the weeks to come.
#FCUSDstrong: Career Technical Education teams up to make PPEs
Teachers in our Folsom Cordova Career Technical Education pathways answered the call for masks in an incredible way, by using their 3D printers, to "print" reusable PPE masks.
Thank you to FCUSD parent Catherine Reed O'Mordha, who broached the idea to District leaders. Additionally, Dr. Jill Walsh at Mercy Medical helped with the design guidelines and is distributing these to medical staff across the county, and Alicia Caddell, Folsom Cordova's CTE Coordinator, led the charge to connect and collaborate with our teachers and community members on this effort.
To date, we have nine schools and over a dozen teachers participating in the manufacturing marvel!
Check out the coverage on this story from Good Day Sac this morning, and tune into CBS13 evening news for more coverage!
Student Care: Important information regarding fees and payment
To our Student Care families: Autopay will not run on April 10, 2020 for April Student Care Fees.  The Student Care Office is currently closed, so please do not mail in check payments or attempt to call and make a credit card payment over the phone for April fees or any delinquent past due amounts.

March will be a prorated month for Student Care Fees.  Each family will be charged one half or 50 percent of their regular monthly fee for the month of March.  If you already paid for the full month of March one half or 50 percent of your payment will be credited to your Student Care Account.
