YEAR-END EVENTS

We are in the process of reimagining year-end events like graduation and other WMS traditions.

Watch Bloomz and the Wednesday Weekly for more information about how we will be celebrating the end of the 2019-20 school year.

Thank you to the parents and staff who joined us for our first Saturday morning virtual coffee this past week. It was a great opportunity to be together, discuss this wonderful video by psychologists Michael Thompson and Rob Evans, and share parenting questions. Finding time to gather, connect and learn from each other is more important now than ever. If you haven’t had the opportunity to watch the video, please treat yourself to an hour of great wisdom and support. You deserve it!

One aspect that resonated with parents was how to take care of yourself while you’re doing so much to care for your family, job, home, extended family and friends. As Evans and Thompson state, please remember: "You don’t need to be perfect. You need to be good enough." These are difficult times. You may need to let some things slide. Evans and Thompson assure us that your children and family won’t suffer because of it. They offer this and many other nuggets to support you during this time.

As you read on, you will see that we have already scheduled our next virtual parent coffee, and we are in the process of coordinating other opportunities for us to meet for coffee and a chat. The dates and times will continue to be posted on Bloomz and in the Wednesday Weekly.

We look forward to seeing you at future coffees if you are able. In the meantime, please take some advice from these experts and take a bit of time each day for yourself - take a yoga class , meditate, go for a run , read a book or do something else that inspires and relaxes you.

NEWS & NOTES

Important Updates:

Year-End Co-op Information - We will be waiving all Co-op requirements for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year, and no one will be charged for incomplete hours. Thank you for the time and effort you have put into supporting your children and the school all year.
Picking Up Items from WMS - We are in the process of packing up any items that may have been left at school prior to closing the building. Information about picking up your child's items will be shared soon. Stay tuned for details.
Deadline for Tuition Refund Changes - If you would like to change your option for your tuition refund for the remainder of the school year, please contact B arb Trotto by May 4. If we do not hear from you, we will move forward with the same option you selected for the first portion of your refund.

Dr. Simon, a pediatrician and WMS parent, will share information and answer questions about health and wellness during this time.

Virtual Hispanic Cultural Fair - Tomorrow at 10 a.m.

9-12 students will be sharing their Hispanic Cultural Fair presentations via Zoom tomorrow (Thursday, 4/30) at 10 a.m.

Their research has included popular tourism locations, cuisine, famous people and artwork from Peru, Spain, Cuba, Mexico and Argentina.

All are welcome to attend and benefit from the 9-12 students' research!

Earth Week 2020

WMS celebrated Earth Week last week through a variety of suggested activities and themes created by the school's Ecoteam, consisting of the following student representatives: Camryn Lyons, Morgan Josey, GInger Wehler, Sophia Silverman, Caroline Lober, Sadie Heiger, Cooper Giles and Samantha Russell.

Below, you will see some of the ways in which Ecoteam members and other students took care of our Earth and enjoyed the great outdoors in honor of Earth Week!
