U.S. producer prices unexpectedly fell in July amid a drop in the cost for energy products and underlying producer inflation appears to be on a downward trend, while jobless claims rose for a second straight week in a labor market that remains tight.

U.S. worker productivity in the second quarter fell at its steepest pace on an annual basis since 1948, the Labor Department said on Tuesday.

The Consumer Price Index was unchanged last month after advancing 1.3% in June, the Labor Department said on Wednesday.

The inventory of homes for sale in the US grew at a record pace in July as buyer interest continued to soften due to high mortgage rates and listing prices.

The U.S. government posted a $211 billion budget deficit for July, a 30% drop from the $302 billion deficit reported in the same month last year.

U.S. wholesale inventories increased less than initially thought in June as businesses slowed the replenishment of their stocks.

U.S. small business confidence edged up in July as fuel prices eased and job openings became marginally easier to fill, but inflation worries intensified, a survey showed on Tuesday.

Walmart could face an uphill battle to reclaim U.S. shoppers who opted for the neighborhood dollar store or Aldi rather than driving farther to a Walmart Supercenter when gasoline was $5 a gallon.

Friday Recap: S&P 500, Nasdaq Close Up 4th Straight Week

Optimism is seeping back into the U.S. stock market, as some investors grow more convinced that the economy may avoid a severe downturn even as it copes with high inflation.

U.S. import prices fell for the first time in seven months in July, helped by a strong dollar and lower fuel and nonfuel costs, while consumers' one-year inflation outlook ebbed in August, the latest signs that price pressures may have peaked.

U.S high-yield bond funds are attracting heavy investments, a turnaround from the selloffs of the first half of this year.

Five U.S.-listed Chinese state-owned companies whose audits are under scrutiny by the U.S. securities regulator said on Friday they would voluntarily delist from the New York Stock Exchange.

A corporate minimum tax in a congressional spending bill set for passage on Friday will not bring the United States into compliance with a separately negotiated 137-country deal for a global minimum tax. Although both taxes are the same rate - 15% - they are separate items that apply differently to companies.

Home prices rose by double digits in 80% of US metro markets in in the second quarter from the first three months of the year.

US jobless claims increased last week and came in above Wall Street's expectations, indicating continued moderation in the labor market despite tight conditions.

In commodities, oil fell 2% to the $92 per barrel level Friday, but is also on pace for a weekly gain.

U.S. natural gas futures slid about 1% on Friday on forecasts for cooler weather and lower demand next week than previously expected.

After four straight down days, including a more than 1% drop on Wednesday, the dollar rallied against its major rivals on Friday, but was still on track for a decline of around 0.84 for the week.

Slowing economic growth is weighing on industrial metals prices but zinc and aluminum are likely to outperform in correlation to sky-high energy prices.

Gold closed with a gain on Friday, as the metal held its own despite a rebounding US dollar and higher bond yields. Silver and Platinum rose, while Palladium and Copper slipped downward.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 424.38 points, or 1.27%, to close at 33,761.05; the S&P 500 added 72.88 points, or 1.73%, ending at 4,280.15; the Nasdaq Composite rose 267.27 points, of 2.09%, to close at 13,047.19.

A Note from Yvonne Celia

Hello Faithful Partners, Listeners, Viewers, and Readers!

We’ve had some difficult days since Dan left us and as the weeks have passed, I am missing him more than I can express in words. It’s strangely surreal but the Lord has been and is by my side, giving me the comfort and peace as only He can. I just wanted to thank you for your prayers, your notes of encouragement, your patience, and your support in helping me and our ministry to press on!

As I have written previously, I was recently voted by our Board of Directors to be the President/CEO and Chair of the Board of FISM. I am humbled and honored to serve willingly, in obedience, albeit inexperienced and ill equipped. I am blessed with an incredibly capable staff, and extremely faithful board members who serve alongside me – without whom I’d not be sitting here sharing this. I want you to know that Dan did love you, his partners and listeners, so much that he never tired of connecting with you whether by on-air conversations, face to face at his town hall meetings, or his very cherished moments in bible study on Friday mornings. His spirits always lifted when you encouraged him.

I’d like to invite you to share your comments and concerns, prayer requests and praises with me at yvonne@fism.tv. I will make every attempt to connect with you via email.

PLEASE do not ask me financial questions, you WILL be disappointed!

Sincerely,

Yvonne

Poll Finds Worldwide Pessimism for Financial Future

Americans with a pessimistic view of their kids’ financial future outnumbered those who expect better days ahead by a margin of 72% to 27%.

Chris Lieberman, FISM News

Seventy percent of adults across 19 countries believe that their children will be worse off financially than they are, according to a new poll from Pew Research.

The poll, conducted this spring, asked respondents whether they believed children growing up in their country would be better or worse off financially than their parents. Of the 19 countries surveyed, only Sweden, Singapore, and Israel showed a majority of people who believed their children would be better off.

Japan had the bleakest outlook on the future, with 82% believing that kids would be worse off than their parents and only 12%…(READ MORE)

Cruz: Dems making IRS bigger than Defense, State Depts, FBI combined

The lawmaker warned that the agents would be targeting the middle class and not wealthy Americans as many politicians have indicated.

Savannah Hulsey Pointer, FISM News

Senator Ted Cruz castigated President Joe Biden and the Democrats for their plan to expand the Internal Revenue Service by hiring 87,000 new tax-enforcement agents.

According to the senator’s comments before the upper chamber of Congress, the Democrats’ Inflation Reduction Act – which passed Sunday 51-50 on Vice President Kamala Harris’ tiebreaking vote – creates an expansion that would make the IRS larger than the FBI, the State Department, the Department of Defense, and Border Patrol combined.

“That’s a terrible idea. We should abolish…(READ MORE)

Republicans on Oversight Committee want briefing on FBI raid

Democrats on the House Oversight Committee are unconcerned, or at a minimum do not view FBI interactions with political figures as a priority at this time.

Willie R. Tubbs, FISM News

Even though there are no guarantees any details will immediately result from the effort, the Republicans who serve on the House Oversight Committee have nonetheless demanded answers about the FBI raid conducted on the Florida home of former President Donald Trump.

Ranking member James Comer (R-Ky.) headed the group of congresspeople who signed a letter addressed to Acting Archivist of the United States Debra Wall, seeking to discover what role the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) played in the Monday raid of Trump’s Mar-A-Lago home as well as other moves conservatives view as an overreach by the Biden Justice…(READ MORE)

GOP Pumps Brakes on Predictions of a ‘Red Wave’ in November

…thanks in part to a controversial campaign undertaken by Democrats in several states to promote Trump’s picks, whom they view as less of a threat in the midterms.

Chris Lange, FISM News

Following more than a year of bipartisan speculation that the Grand Old Party could gain majorities in both chambers of Congress this fall, Republicans are now sounding the alarm that a GOP majority is “not guaranteed.”

For months, Pundits and lawmakers from both sides of the aisle have predicted a “red wave” in the November midterms. Persistently low poll numbers for President Joe Biden, record-high inflation and gas prices, an unprecedented crisis at the southern border, and until recently, Democrats’ inability to pass any significant legislation are all reasons for the predictions that Americans will go to the polls looking for…(READ MORE)

Gas Dips Below $4, Analysts Warn of Future Spikes

The Goldman Sachs report shows an increased forecast compared to the U.S. Energy Information Administration’s (EIA) estimates earlier this summer.

Samuel Case, FISM News

The national average price for gas dipped below $4 on Tuesday for the first time since March according to GasBuddy, though AAA showed the national average sitting at $4.01 on Wednesday morning.

“Gas prices have declined over $1 per gallon since peaking at $5.03 on June 14, fueled by falling oil prices over the last month. Americans today will spend nearly $400 million less on gasoline than they did in mid-June,” GasBuddy reported.

President Biden touted the price drop in a tweet highlighting “the last 10 days under President…(READ MORE)

Primaries Confirm Strength of Trump Endorsement In Multiple States

One of the biggest surprises of the Tuesday primaries was the razor-thin majority that won Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar her primary race…

Samuel Case, FISM News

Primary races in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Vermont, and Connecticut showed on Tuesday that former President Donald Trump’s endorsement is a valuable and powerful boost for candidates across the United States.

One day after the Federal Bureau of Investigation raided Trump’s Mar-a-Lago, Republican candidates supported by former President Trump had another flawless night in state and federal elections on Tuesday. As of now, he is 192-11 in endorsements, Breitbart News reported.

In Wisconsin, Tim Michels, a businessman backed by Trump, defeated Rebecca Kleefisch in the gubernatorial primary on Tuesday, according to…(READ MORE)

CA Assembly Passes Bill to Take ‘Emergency’ Custody of Kids When Parents Won’t Consent to Trans Surgery

Backholm pointed out that American jurisprudence “has long assumed that parents have the best interest of their children in mind...

Chris Lange, FISM News

A shocking piece of legislation that passed out of the California Assembly last week could give courts the right to remove children from parents who refuse to allow them to undergo transgender surgery.

Senate Bill 107, also called “Trans Refuge Legislation,” would grant the state “temporary emergency jurisdiction” over a minor if “the child has been unable to obtain gender-affirming health care or gender-affirming mental health care.”

“In other words, if parents do not support a child’s gender transition, the state of California could declare an ‘emergency’ and take custody of the child,” Joseph Backholm, senior fellow for Biblical worldview and strategic engagement at the Family Research Council, explained in an op-ed…(READ MORE)

COVID-19 Lockdowns Linked to Decreased Reporting of Child Abuse

The team used data from multiple sources, including the National Child Abuse and Neglect Data System’s Child File...

Lauren Dempsey, FISM News

MS in Biomedicine and Law, RN

COVID-19 lockdowns prevented educators from identifying and reporting cases of child abuse, confirming a concern many had of the negative ramifications of aggressive mitigation efforts taken by the left. The result was the failure to report between 5,500 and 8,000 cases of abuse due to school closures and decreased enrollment, according to a study published in The Journal of Human Resources.

Teachers have long been a vital factor in the detection of abuse and the reporting of suspected maltreatment. But with school migrating online and many students not even showing up to online sessions during the height of the pandemic, teachers were unable to monitor students for signs…(READ MORE)

Inflation up 8.5% in July, Prices Near 40-Year High

It’s not only Republicans pointing out the serious economic issues under the Biden administration…

Trey Paul, FISM News

Times are getting tougher for American consumers, as prices continue to rise across the board, despite the rate of inflation cooling off in July for the first time in months.

Prices are near the highest level we’ve seen in 40 years.

The consumer price index (CPI) shows what we were paying for things a year ago. Despite a decrease in the monthly rate, the latest numbers are still very high, going up 8.5% in July. That number is down from 9.1% in June, according to the Bureau…(READ HERE)

FBI Raids Trump’s Home, Setting Off Firestorm of Anger from Republicans

Never before has the FBI raided the home of a former president.

Willie R. Tubbs, FISM News

On Monday evening, FBI agents searched the Florida home of former President Donald Trump for classified and unclassified documents from Trump’s time in the White House. It is unclear if the agents’ search yielded anything of value, but it certainly earned the Justice Department no small amount of scorn from the right.

“These are dark times for our Nation, as my beautiful home, Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents,” Trump said in a statement shared on Twitter by his Save America…(READ MORE)

Inflation Reduction Act May Contain Nothing That Will Reduce Inflation

Americans are likely less enthused by the inclusion of an $80 billion increase to the IRS’s budget, which the agency will use to more fully enforce the federal tax code.

Willie R. Tubbs, FISM News

Whether or not the Inflation Reduction Act ever lives up to its billing – experts are split on that topic, but non-partisan and right-leaning groups are pessimistic – President Joe Biden will soon sign it into law.

As such, it is profitable to examine what is and is not found in the bill’s language.

For starters, the actual bill, which passed the Senate Sunday, is not nearly as simple as a glowing, one-page summary offered by Senate Democrats suggests.

Were the act to have been called the climate, medical, and tax act, it would be closer to accurate. Any allusions to a meaningful or immediate impact on inflation are…(READ MORE)

DHS Working to End ‘Remain in Mexico’ Policy

This was particularly a counter to the “catch and release” method of immigration enforcement…

Ian Patrick, FISM News

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is looking to scrap the Trump-era Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP), often referred to as the “Remain in Mexico” policy, following a Supreme Court ruling that allows it to do so.

DHS released a statement on August 8 on the department’s website. It states that the department “is committed to ending the court-ordered implementation of MPP in a quick, and orderly, manner.”

Engineers from MIT have created a new ultrasound device that can be worn for up to 48 hours, allowing doctors to continuously monitor and capture images of internal organs and tissues while the patient is mobile. The device has the potential to provide a breakthrough in imaging as it would allow doctors to monitor internal processes in different scenarios in real time.

A group of prominent doctors and scientists on Tuesday joined a lawsuit filed by the states of Missouri and Louisiana alleging that the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) colluded with Big Tech social media giants to censor Americans discussing the pandemic on their platforms.

Chris Lange, FISM News

A spate of sexual assaults on female prisoners by “transgender” inmates has prompted the U.K. to ban biological males from women’s prisons.

The policy was introduced by Justice Secretary Dominic Raab, a member of Britain’s Conservative Party, in response to several recent high-profile incidents.

All 50 Senate Dems Vote to Say Pregnancy Not Limited to Women

The Sunshine State senator pointed out that, in “5,500 years of human history…every single human pregnancy has been biological[ly] female.”

Chris Lange, FISM News

Buried among a heaping helping of proposed amendments to the Democrats’ sweeping reconciliation bill, which passed along party lines Sunday, was one that sought to define pregnancy as a condition unique to women under federal law. All 50 Senate Democrats voted against the amendment introduced by Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.).

The provision was one among dozens of amendments to the Inflation Reduction Act proposed by Republicans that, while having little-to-no chance of being enacted, forced Democrats to go on record to clarify their positions on hot-button issues. In this case, every Democrat Senator showed support for the left’s gender-bending craze that seeks to supplant biological science with a myriad of self-created gender preferences and the notion that men can somehow…(READ MORE)
