Lend Your Support to IAGB's Food Drive IAGB has undertaken to join the fight against HUNGER as part of its Community Service agenda. As we enjoy our holiday season, we would like to remember those who could use a helping hand from us.
We have started a food drive, which will continue through our Republic Day celebration on January 28. We will donate the food items we collect to a couple of food pantries that we have identified in the Metro West Area. To that end, if you would like to contribute some non-perishable food items, we request you to bring those items to the antakshari semifinal on January 8, and/or to the Republic Day mela on January 28.
Your contributions would be highly appreciated and will go a long way in helping to put food on someone's table. Thanks so much for your generosity!

Sharing IAGB’s New Vision at an Event Full of Good Cheer
The event of choice for our members and well wishers on December 10 was IAGB's complimentary holiday luncheon at Mehfil Restaurant in Tewksbury, MA.
The 120 or so guests got together for an afternoon of socializing and learning about IAGB's events over a delicious lunch. They availed of the opportunity to chat with IAGB's Executive Committee members, who generally work behind the scenes, and hear about the organization's accomplishments and plans for future events.
President Jayashree Voruganti welcomed members, past presidents, guests, partners and well-wishers to IAGB’s fourth event of the year in 2016. The purpose of hosting the holiday luncheon was to bring our community together and provide the State of IAGB – a first in the history of the organization, she explained. You can view the picture album of the luncheon here.
Expanding IAGB Activities to One Event/One Quarter
The 2015-2017 Executive Committee set forth to implement a new vision that included expanding activities by presenting one event per quarter, a community services platform to collaborate with the community, and an initiative to reach beyond boundaries, including both local and government bodies. The underlying theme of the vision is to bring us together to help our community.
In order to implement the new vision, we set up various subcommittees (each with two co-chairpersons) to execute routine tasks:
- Culture
- Fundraising and Table Management
- Program and Brochure Management
- Logistics
- Communication and PR/Media
- Food and Venue
- Website
- Facebook
We established subcommittees to implement our existing and new initiatives:
- Community Collaboration (new)
- Community Services Platform (existing)
- Reach beyond Boundaries (existing)
IAGB also recognized the value of various partnerships and established banking and media partners.
Accomplishments in 2016 and Upcoming Events in 2017
Jayashree took a look back at our accomplishments in 2016 and a look ahead to our planned events in 2017, and listed the following:

IAGB Partners with Leherein to Present Hindi Comedy on May 13
IAGB is partnering with New England Leherein to bring you a Hindi comedy play directed by acclaimed local producer and director Avinash Padhye on Saturday, May 13. Proceeds will go toward charitable causes promoted by Leherein and IAGB. Last spring, Avinash had directed a hit Hindi play for IAGB, “Such aur Such ke Siva,” the presentation of which raised funds for IAGB’s charitable causes.
Leherein has blossomed from being a dance group into a charity that raises funds for needy children in India. The Leherein team is comprised of 14 women who work to enhance underprivileged children's lives by instilling the value of education at “Baal Sadhan,” a home operated by nonprofit organization IIM Trust in Pune, India.
IAGB and Leherein teams are working on the logistics of the play. IAGB President Jayashree Voruganti and Vice President Praveena Naduthota, co-chairpersons of the event, will share details about the play at IAGB’s antakshari semifinal on January 8 at Priya Restaurant in Lowell, MA.
Tickets to the play will be available for purchase at IAGB’s Republic Day mela on January 28, at Burlington High School, Burlington, MA.
