Greetings!
It being March, and me being Irish, it is time for some Irish jokes and trivia.
“Knock-knock! Who’s there? Irish. Irish who? I-rish you a happy St. Patrick’s Day!”
“What do you call a really big Irish spider? A Paddy Long Legs!”
Did you know that St. Patrick, Ireland’s patron saint, was not, in fact Irish? And that the White House was designed by an Irishman, James Hoban. Abraham BRAM Stoker, who wrote Dracula, was Irish. Halloween derives from an Irish festival called Samhain. Ireland ranks sixth worldwide in beer consumption per capita. I’ll drink to that!
Whether you are Irish or not, Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!!
March is also
Women's History Month
, which provides us an opportunity to celebrate women’s many great achievements and reflect on the problems they have endured in their struggle for freedom and autonomy. It’s important for all of us to encourage our daughters, granddaughters, and nieces to be great at whatever they do. Encourage girls to think big, speak-up, and be counted. Of course, girls are just as smart, brave and capable as boys. Let’s help them all to be treated as true equals. Let’s do everything we can to support and nurture a new generation of great women leaders.
