Easter Offering
Our church is needed more than ever to bring hope to the world, today and tomorrow. As you are able, please participate in this year’s Easter offering. Your staff is working so hard—let’s keep our team going strong and continue to support our mission and vision: transforming lives with the Good News, in real and tangible ways. Go here to give online: bit.ly/StBarts-Easter .
Maundy Thursday Foot Washing at St. Mark's
St. Bart's partners with St. Mark's City Heights and the Episcopal Church Center to celebrate Holy Week by serving our neighbors. Every year we provide new shoes and socks, serve hot meals, and provide health and well-being services to the homeless community at St. Mark’s. While the Maundy Thursday event that we're used to is postponed, we need to be prepared when we can support this community. Please donate online (choose Outreach then St. Mark's from the drop down list) to purchase shoes ($25 per pair). If you have any questions, please contact Maya or Kate McKone-Sweet, 781-856-8044.
Meditation with Jim Oakes
Fridays, April 3, 10, 17, 24, 5 p.m. on Zoom
In the midst of social distancing, Jim Oakes is offering a weekly Yoga Nidra practice you can access via live-stream from anywhere. This practice is to cultivate a sense of inner resourcefulness to support meeting all the sensations, emotions, thoughts, and joys present during these unprecedented times. This 40-minute guided meditation enables recognition of the peace of mind which is always present amidst all changing circumstances of life. Each practice will include time for a chat session where you can share your questions, reflections, and concerns, followed by a guided meditation practice and a closing opportunity to chat. These sessions are free to all and you are invited to extend the invitation to your wider community. No meditation experience is necessary.

To join the practice, click on the link below five minutes prior: https://zoom.us/j/200904789
Yoga Nidra Preparation Recommendations:
Find a comfortable, quiet place where you can be peaceful for an hour

Dress in comfortable clothes and set-up your space with any other atmospheric elements that support your practice

You can practice in a chair, in bed, on a yoga mat with props to support you and a blanket to keep you warm

Please mute your microphone when you come into the meeting
Art Conversations - NEW CLASS!
Rather than watch another Netflix show, why not learn something new. Join Art Conversations in a four-week art history series taught online by Art History Professor, and St. Bartholomew's parishioner, Rachel Blankenship. Each week's content will center around a theme which we will unearth by way of art history. A week at a time, we will pay special attention to one artist and their artwork, an assigned reading and a reading prompt, as well as a brief video lecture. Engage with other parishioners to see how art and art history bring creativity, spirituality and community up off the screen and into our daily lives. No experience needed! Come as you are.  Weekly lesson posted on St. Bartholomew's website every Monday! Drop by and learn something new!
Campus Redevelopment Update
The work and mission of our church continues during the coronavirus outbreak and St. Bart’s campus closure. Read about Summer 2020 redevelopment projects in the March 2020 Update . All plans were considered in the context of our Vision, Strategic Plan, parish feedback, and were unanimously approved by St. Bart’s ARCH Committee, Finance Committee, Vestry and Clergy with prayer and discernment.

ADULT FORMATION
Revelation
Wednesdays, Video Recorded
This class will be video recorded each week and posted on St. Bartholomew's YouTube channel.
Revelation (known as the Apocalypse or insight) is one of the most engaging and disputed books of the Bible. It has inspired great works of art and music, and it has fed social upheaval and speculation about the coming end of the world. This course will ask what Revelation is, why it has played such a volatile role in Western culture, and how it continues to be meaningful to contemporary readers. All are welcome! See the full description for the topic schedule .
Men's Bible Study Gatherings
Fridays, 7:45 a.m., on Zoom
The Men’s Bible Study Group regularly meets via Zoom on Friday’s at 7:45 a.m. where we are discussing Peter Gomes' The Good Book . We welcome all interested participants (even if you aren’t actively reading the book). If you would like to receive a brief training session on how to use Zoom videoconferencing software on your laptop, iPad, or smartphone, please contact Andrew Horne , Mike Jewett , or Robert Leiter .

Tuesdays, beginning April 7, 2-3 p.m., on Zoom
During these unprecedented times, we would like to provide an additional opportunity for study and fellowship as an offering to men in the parish who may not be able to participate on Friday mornings. Please join us for a new Zoom-based weekly one hour discussion group on Tuesdays 2- 3 p.m. beginning April 7. We will start a new discussion centered on Bishop Michael Curry’s book Crazy Christians . We will plan to discuss one chapter each week. Please email Beth Dean for a Zoom invitation to the meeting.

Service Opportunities
While we're all being asked to stay home to flatten the curve, there are still many ways you can be of service to others.
  • Ask a neighbor if they need anything when you go to the grocery store.
  • Check in on friends and neighbors 65+ who should not be venturing out.
  • Foster a dog. You're home anyway and dogs are great companions and have the ability to lower stress. Help out a local rescue while you have the time. Contact Second Chance Dog Rescue, It's the Pits, Labradors & Friends or search dog rescues San Diego.
  • Give blood. There is a huge need for blood right now. St. Bartholomew's hosted the American Red Cross this week and they'll be back on April 27 make your appointment today!
  • Volunteer to deliver meals to seniors 60+ with Meals on Wheels.
  • Share your talent with St. Bartholomew's parishioners. If you have a special talent or passion and can turn that into a class, preferably utilizing Zoom let us know!
