Dear saints,

This Sunday as we celebrate getting back to the block with a grand old party in the courtyard, we will begin our worship with the procession of banners celebrating the many ministries of this church. I cannot think of a better way for us to begin a new program year together, extending the invitation to one another to serve God in and through this place.

Accompanying this yearly tradition is a new brochure offering a guide to all things All Saints' this year. Taking a glance through the brochure, it is a little dizzying just how much there is to get involved in here. Yet we are not looking to make people busy for Jesus, we are looking for us to be changed. At the heart of the Christian faith and life is the deep desire for transformation. We die in baptism to be raised with Christ in Christ's resurrection. We loosen our grip on getting what we want in order to give ourselves to one another and to the building of God's kingdom of justice and peace. So, how might you be changed this year at All Saints'? How might God be inviting you to contribute who you are for the building of a better world? I invite you to be here, to enjoy rich relationships with one another, and to choose All Saints' to be that sacred center in your life where your soulful questions find their answers expressed in ways deep and wide.

Thanks be to God for all that is All Saints'.

Peace,
This Sunday

Mike Carscaddon Matthew 25 Ministry Fund

“Share in the Movement that was set up for you…for I was hungry and you shared your food with me; I was a stranger and you welcomed me; ragged and you clothed me; sick and you nursed me. I was in jail and you stood by me." Then the people of justice will answer…”when did we see you hungry and share our food, or thirsty and share our water? When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or ragged and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in jail, and stand by you?” and the Leader of the Movement will reply, “When you did it to one of these humblest…you did it to me.”
- Matthew 25, New Testament translation by Clarence Jordan, Cotton Patch Gospel.

Share a Meal with the Men of Covenant Community
Mondays, August 15 and 22

Covenant Community is a great ministry that provides residential drug treatment for homeless men struggling with addiction. From the time it was founded at All Saints' over 30 years ago, our parishioners have provided dinner to share with the residents of Covenant Community. Please consider breaking bread with them on a Monday night. You could bring dinner yourself, with friends, or even co-workers. Children are also welcome to join! Meals for around 15 people can either be shared with the men inside the residence or they can be dropped off during the day. The available dates are August 8 and 15.
