Epic Updates

Epic Connect: Sign Up Now

Having our high performing PCPs on the same integrated platform is essential for accelerating our population health work. As a reminder, this means Epic Connect implementation is an APP membership requirement for eligible internal medicine and family medicine physicians. Eligible pediatric and specialist practices are encouraged but not required to implement.

We redesigned the Epic Connect program earlier this year based feedback from our initial pilot in 2021. We’re excited to share that our second pilot was a great success, bringing the total number APP aligned practices on Epic Connect to 11. We are planning our next waves as follows:

  • There will be two more waves in 2022
  • In 2023, four waves are scheduled, with each wave averaging of 20-30 practices
  • March
  • June
  • August
  • October (tentative)
  • The overall implementation is slated to be completed by 2nd quarter 2024

Contact Russell.hinz@aah.orgFred.Brodsky@aah.org or your PHO director to learn more about the advantage of going live on Epic as soon as possible.

EpicCare Link Update

On Aug. 24 we will be updating the Terms and Conditions in EpicCare Link to reflect the Use Agreement. All users will be prompted with the notice and will need to agree in order to access the system. In general, users will only be prompted once with the Terms and Conditions upon login, unless and until the Terms and Conditions are updated. If you have questions regarding this change email AAH-ECLaccess@aah.org.

Monkeypox vaccine and treatment updates: Advocate Aurora is in close contact with local and state health departments for both the JYNNEOS vaccine and TPOXX treatment as they manage distribution. We have started to provide the vaccine on a very limited basis at some of our sites in communities with a high prevalence of monkeypox and intend to expand vaccination capabilities as our supply increases. Changes in administration to intradermal are forthcoming. Providers who wish to prescribe TPOXX treatment should contact their local health department for details and enrollment.

Dobutamine shortage: There is currently a nationwide shortage of dobutamine. Read this SBAR for more details and possible alternatives.

Resolved – extended turn around time for A1C test results: ACL Laboratories announced that the turnaround time for Hemoglobin A1C test results are within the expected time frame of 24 hours.

How does Medicare Advantage benefit patients? Medicare Annual Enrollment Period is right around the corner, Oct. 15 to Dec. 7, and is a time for eligible individuals to join, drop or change Medicare coverage – including Medicare Advantage (MA) plans. As a reminder, we’ve partnered with Devoted Health to offer MA HMO plans. To help you prepare for questions, learn how MA plans benefit patients.
