2021 Festival Update & Holiday Parade Announcement
|
|
Due to the ongoing obstacles the pandemic has brought us, we are saddened that our traditional Festival in the Spring of 2021 will not be possible.
However, we know how important our great Spokane traditions are to both our members and our community. Traditions such as Bloomsday, Hoopfest, Pig Out in the Park and the Spokane Lilac Festival are what makes Spokane such an amazing place to live and visit!
We are currently working with city officials and downtown organizations to hopefully plan a ‘Holiday Parade’ to kick off the season and welcome back the community to downtown Spokane and celebrate our beautiful city and businesses on Saturday, November 20, 2021! Of course, this parade will not be on the same scale as our Armed Forces Torchlight Parade, but it sure will be just as fun and exciting!
Specific details will be coming soon! Please visit our website and social media accounts for more information as it develops.
We are extremely excited and committed to continuing our Festival’s traditions, even if in a temporarily revised form. It is our hope that the Holiday Parade will be another opportunity for all of us to come together and celebrate both our city, the holiday season and, most importantly, showing that we are a strong and proud community.
Thank you to all of those who have continued to support our Festival, including the Volunteers, Sponsors, our Lilac Directors and most importantly, our amazing Lilac City!

Wow, time flies! February brought more training and community service opportunities for our Candidates and concluded with the very difficult selection of our 7 Court members.
Our Candidates had a lot of fun getting to know each other and grow closer over the past few weeks. Some February highlights were, military training with our very own Alan Hart, Win-Win training with Brian Newberry, team building activities (including a dessert extravaganza) and volunteering with Blessings Under the Bridge. For some of our Candidates, that night under the bridge brought them the coldest temperatures we've seen in a few years! There was no complaining though, these young leaders know the greater purpose to service and were willing to help where they could!
On Thursday, February 18th, the Candidates gathered for Directors Night. This was an opportunity for the Candidates to practice their stage and speech skills as well as meet some of our Directors. For the first time ever, we were able to have those Directors that couldn’t make it in person or who live outside Spokane join us virtually! All the Candidates did such a great job, these are some inspiring young women! On Saturday, February 20th, they had their panel interview with our community judges for Court selection. In the end, only 7 Candidates were able to move on and be on the Court, which was an extremely difficult decision for our judges. No matter on our Court or not, all of our Candidates are permanent Lilac family members. Thank you all for your hard work and we can not wait to see what great things await you in your journey!
Our new Court hit the ground running this week, starting with an orientation with their parents. Here, they learned more on what is to come in the next few weeks leading up to Coronation. They also discussed with President Dan and VP of Royalty, Kim, what our potential plans for 2021 are and our hope for a Holiday Parade. We are looking forward to the coming months and hoping if all goes well, we can get back out into the community and show Spokane our incredible Lilac Court!
The 2021 Queen & Court Coronation will be held on Saturday, March 20th at 4pm this year. Although some Court members' families and some Directors will be able to attend in-person, we are limiting attendance to invite only. However, it will be livestreamed! Keep reading our newsletter to both meet our new Royal Court members as well as click a link to get more info on the Coronation and how you can be sent the livestream link and watch from the comfort of your own home!
