Meet the Tutors
Katie Montgomery
Tutors Bio110 and English
Weirton Campus (zoom appointments also available)

Katie is a current student at WVNCC, and she completes her Associates this summer.
1.) Best thing about being a tutor?
The feeling that I am helping people do better in a subject that I am knowledgeable on.
It makes me feel that I am doing something to make their lives a little easier. I love seeing that "light bulb" go off in their head whenever something they have been struggling with finally clicks.

2.) What advice do you have for students thinking about getting a tutor?
Don't be afraid to ask for help. Everyone struggles in certain subjects from time-to-time and there is absolutely no shame in needing some extra guidance beyond what you are learning in the classroom.

3.) If you could change anything about being a tutor, to help your students more, what would it be and why?
Honestly, the only thing I would change is the method we are currently having to do most tutoring meetings over. I feel that many of the students that I tutor are struggling with the online classes and tutoring sessions and are getting discouraged by it. I wish I could meet with them more in person because I feel it would better their understanding on certain subjects.

4.) What are your hobbies, interests or life goals?
I love to read, draw, and paint. My ultimate goal after I graduate college with my desired degree is to go into medical research.
I plan to one day study rare, chronic, and terminal illnesses to help in the advancement of less harsh and more effective medical treatments.
Warm Weather Safety Tips From Officer RJ Faldowski
With the warmer temperatures, a lot of our campus community will be heading outside to take advantage of the weather. That also means people from the public will be doing the same. Be mindful of your surroundings and if you see something out of place around the campus including the parking lots, notify a faculty or staff member as soon as possible. Remember to take your I.D. Card with you and do not prop doors open. If you see a door open, please notify staff or faculty as soon as possible.
