August 7th, 2022
Hello Trio Family,

This is your new (interim) pastor writing to let you know of trio happenings during the month of August. Thanks for being patient as I work to communicate with you.

So, I've been thinking about something one of my daughters asks me on a regular basis. "Daddy, can I watch?" she says often when we are doing something around home or during an activity somewhere else. This is primarily because (I think) she wants to be a part of what we are doing even if she can't physically do the activity. I love this because it communicates a desire to join and be with us.

Being present and in communion with God and one another does not depend on physical ability. It only depends on your desire to be a part (present) with God and others. Put this in the context of church community and you have the possibility of connecting with others whether they 'do' anything or not. It says in Paul's letter to the Ephesians chapter 2, starting at verse 4,

"But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

Jesus has done for us what we couldn't do for ourselves. A right, saving relationship with God is a gift! It is not something we can earn or 'do', only something we can receive and join. Let's press in to this reality of God's gift as we connect with Him and each other.
