Thursday May 14 from 3:00-3:30
Join us for a special DC MOVES ONLINE music therapy session provided by Julia's Place Music Therapy Center!
We have all been moving (or not moving) differently in response to the current Covid-19 situation. This can be hard on our brains and our bodies. This session will focus on general movements that will help you stretch out and relieve tension that you may have from sitting at your "home office". Music interacts with the brain uniquely and, when used in specific ways, can help your body move! Come experience this for yourselves.
We have a maximum capacity of 10 participants for this special no charge offer.

Local job finding site launches early to deal with increased demand from job seekers
The Covid-19 crisis has led to a large increase in people looking for work and that has resulted in the early launch of a local job finding website.
Findyourjob.ca
is the result of a partnership between local municipal, county and regional partners along with the Workforce Planning Board. It was originally scheduled to launch in the fall but has already launched to help local job seekers find the positions that are available now. The website pulls jobs from a variety of provincial, national and local sites and collects them all in one place. The site features a job board, a job mapping function and includes resources to support job seekers, such as childcare and school locations, Employment Ontario sites, transit routes, as well as information to support job seekers as they search in this physical distancing environment.
Twice a week you can receive the latest postings to findyourjob.ca by joining the mailing list. You can

to register.
The Findyourjob.ca initiative is a partnership between The Workforce Planning Board of Waterloo Wellington Dufferin, Dufferin County, Wellington County, City of Guelph and Region of Waterloo

Mental Health Commission of Canada launches free online crisis training for essential workers during COVID-19
OTTAWA, April 28, 2020 /CNW Telbec/ - In response to added pressures on essential workers during COVID-19, the Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) has developed a trio of free crisis response training programs designed to help front-line workers deal with the stress of these exceptional circumstances.
The three new online programs ꟷ Caring for Yourself, Caring for Your Team, and Caring for Others ꟷ are designed to help people deal with these new challenges and are based on the MHCC's successful in-person courses: Mental Health First Aid and The Working Mind.
Crisis Response training - Caring for Yourself
(2 hours) - Participants will be introduced to the Mental Health Continuum and the Big 4 Coping Strategies, to help learn how to better understand their own mental wellness, notice if they might be moving into unwell areas, use practical actions to help with stress, and know when to reach out to get professional help.
Crisis Response training - Caring for your Team
(3 hours) - Participants will be introduced to the Mental Health Continuum, the Big 4 Coping Strategies, and Ad Hoc Incident Review to help learn how to better understand their own and their team's mental wellness, notice if they might be moving into unwell areas, use practical actions to help with stress, know when to reach out to get professional help and learn tips to support team members
Crisis Response Training - Caring for Others
(2 hours) - will focus on how to create a safe space to have conversations about mental health and/or substance use problems. This training will prepare participants to have conversations confidently about mental health during a crisis, with their family, friends, communities, and workplaces. Participants will also be taught the skills required to respond to a mental health crisis until professional help arrives.
Registration for these courses will be on a first-come, first-serve basis and will be available at no-cost for essential workers as defined by the Government of Canada

I have scheduled two workshops especially for “Empty Nesters,” on how to re-invent your home for fun and income through home-sharing. We will talk about how to find compatible home-mates, how to figure out what to charge for rent, and how to develop a home-sharing agreement, laying out the ground-rules for your home-sharing arrangement. And we will chat about your own particular interests and concerns.
These workshops will be held on
April 18 and May 9.
Up until now, all my workshops have been live, face-to-face. But given the current situation, I will be holding these two online via a Zoom webinar. If you’ve never used Zoom, it’s easy to learn! I hosted a “virtual family reunion” using Zoom last night and had every member of my three-generation family online. What a blast!
