I WAS HUNGRY AND YOU
...
St. Martin’s has volunteered for the Soup Kitchen run by the Samaritan Homeless Interim Program (S.H.I.P.) for many years and the Outreach Committee is hopeful that we will again be able to participate in 2020. It is S.H.I.P.’s desire that we continue to man the Mobile Soup Kitchen on the third Wednesday of each month. Currently, the mobile soup truck is taken to the parking lot at Sacred Heart Church in Manville from 5:30 to 6:30 P.M.
To continue our participation we are in need of both drivers and servers. The number of families served in Manville ranges from 2-10 per week so we would need a driver and one server each month. A signup sheet has been posted on the bulletin board. The willingness of parishioners to participate will allow this program to continue.
Thank you to all who continue to bring in foods and contribute in other ways to the Food Bank. Here's a tally of recent donations:
August: 1 Peanut Butter, 5 cans of tuna fish
September: 4 Peanut Butter, 16 cans of tuna, and a cash donation
October: 2 Peanut Butter, 12 tuna, cash
November: 7 Peanut Butter, 6 other foods, cash
December: 5 Peanut Butter, 3 other
Each month someone is hungry, and everything you contribute, makes a difference.
