To My Hunter Mill District Neighbors:

One of our greatest strengths in the Hunter Mill District is our diversity and the many languages that are spoken here. If you speak Korean, Chinese, Farsi or Russian, the Lake Anne and Hunters Woods Fellowship Houses in Reston need your help making wellness calls to residents. Additional information can be found at  www.fellowshipsquare.org   or contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Diane Beatley, at  dbeatley@fellowshipsquare.org   or 703-483-8575. I encourage you to use your language skills to help these residents who may be feeling especially isolated during the pandemic.

Another big asset in our community is our vibrant small business community, which has been hit hard during the last two months. If you are a small business owner, a reminder that you can apply for the Small Business Microloan Program beginning tomorrow, April 28. Along with the federal CARES programs, the Small Business COVID-19 Recovery Fund and associated counseling was approved earlier this month by the Board of Supervisors as an initial placeholder program but also an important step towards helping our business community with needed relief.  Get details . The Board will discuss significantly expanding relief efforts for small businesses and nonprofits during the coming weeks. Residents can also support small businesses by calling or checking web pages to see if you can purchase gift certificates to use later or order takeout or delivery from your neighborhood restaurant.

Respectfully,
Walter
