Greetings!
Colorado Senior Lobby is busy. Our CSL Legislative Committee is meeting every Monday. Our CSL Bill Tracker is in place, and of course our CSL Capitol Gang is at the Capitol multiple times a week.
After many years of the same basic format for Senior Day at the Capitol, typically in the same time frame of mid-March; your CSL Board of Directors decided it was time to do “something completely different”. So, we moved it up in time to late January, when the legislature is less busy; we created a more advocacy-oriented format, charged admission to help defray the costs, held the event in the Capitol basement in one of the larger committee rooms – and it worked! Colorado Senior Lobby is very pleased to have more people than ever attending in person or calling into our Monday morning Legislative Committee Meetings. At these meetings our members and interested citizens review legislation looking for those bills that impact older adults. From these bills, the group reads the bills and selects those that have the greatest potential impact on seniors. What is an SME? Well a Subject Matter Expert of course!
Colorado Senior Lobby, the Legislative Committee and the Capitol Gang have a need for Subject Matter Experts (SME). The Capitol Gang has worked on a description for SME’s and we invite you to apply and put your knowledge to work for older adults in Colorado.
CSL 2020 Legislative Planning Committee Update

While the Colorado legislature is in session, Colorado Senior Lobby (CSL) holds weekly Legislative Committee Meetings (LCM) to review legislation looking for those bills that impact seniors. The Meetings are held on Mondays from 9:30AM to 11:30AM. You can attend in person or call in with Zoom.

We send out a weekly email that reviews the Bills we are working on and introduces special guests. This allows for our Legislative Committee Members to be prepared to discuss the nuances of the bills. Here are links to two February LCM weekly emails:

  • The CSL Legislative Committee is always looking for volunteers to help with researching bills and issues for the Legislative Committee Meetings.
