Help Spread the Word: The Children's Trust Community Parent Survey *

The Children’s Trust is conducting an anonymous online community survey to better understand parent's needs and interests. The survey is for parents of children prenatal through 18 years old, living in Miami-Dade County and is available in English, Spanish and Haitian Creole. It should take 15 minutes or less to complete. Parents who complete the survey will be able to enter to win a $50 Target gift card. The survey link is below. Also, help The Trust spread the word to parents by sharing out our community survey flyer available in the Survey Toolkit linked below.

New SPARK Training Scheduled for Aug. 20 *

The Children's Trust is sponsoring a SPARK (Sports, Play, and Active Recreation for Kids) training event at least once every month. The training is for contracted Youth Development K-5 providers using SPARK curriculum for fitness. Watch the Trust Academy LMS Event calendar for future trainings.

While UM Team Coach's trainings and peer learnings are on a summer pause, be sure to check out its asynchronous courses in Trust Academy or contact us about individual coaching!
Communities of Practice: Join a community where Parenting Providers support one another, share best practices and deepen their knowledge. CoPs are held monthly (the first week of the month) and are currently being offered virtually. CoPs will start back up again the first week of September.
1. Parent Stressors & Barriers: This CoP is held on the first Wednesday of each month. The next CoP will be held on Wednesday, September 7 from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. In this CoP, we will be identifying key stressors and barriers your families may currently be facing, as well as identifying and practicing strategies to solve these barriers. 2. Creating Support Networks & Community Outreach/Recruitment: This CoP is held on the first Thursday of each month. The next CoP will be held on Thursday, September 1 from 10-11 a.m. In this CoP, we will work collaboratively to create networks of outreach and referrals across parenting providers in the community and discuss program recruitment strategies. Back-to-School Virtual Open House for Newly Hired Youth Development Provider Staff

If you're hiring new staff for the new school year, be sure to invite them to attend Project RISE' s Back-to-School Virtual Open House as part of their orientation/onboarding process. Taking place on August 11, from 11 a.m.-noon, this virtual open house is a perfect way for new staff to become acquainted with what Project RISE has to offer (such as trainings, courses, coaching services, and peer learning opportunities) and ask questions that will help them start the year off ahead of the curve. Upcoming Training Opportunities for Youth Development Provider Staff
Structure and Clear Limits - August 11, 2-4 p.m.
Ever wonder why some children participate in engaging activities while others put their head down on the table? In this training, youth development program staff will learn to recognize and respond to youth needs by creating routines and establishing effective guidelines and consequences that will result in positive youth engagement.
Ask-Listen-Encourage
August 12, 1-3 p.m.
Show the children and youth in your programs that you are interested in what they have to say. In this interactive workshop, youth development staff will learn how to ask effective questions, listen actively to youth, and offer encouragement beyond basic praise. Take an implementation plan back to your program.
Differentiated Literacy Instruction
August 16, 1 - 3 p.m.
In this virtual training, certified teachers learn how to use reading assessment data from the ORF and Maze to identify struggling readers and develop reading intervention plans unique to each student. Certified teachers will also learn how to create a plan of action to differentiate reading instruction. Please register for this training on Trust Academy. Once registered, you will receive an email with the Zoom link and handouts the day before the training.
