Is spring really on its way?
Have you noticed that it's staying light a little later every day? And you can hear bits of birdsong when you're outside. There are even times when we see the sun! Yes, winter is still here in Vermont, but small signs like these tell us that spring IS coming. Some of you are perusing your gardening catalogs, but a lot of you are planning spring quilt projects. You're digging through your stash, looking through your patterns, or sitting down with pencil and paper (or your computer) to create a new project. At the shop, we're getting pretty new prints to help you on your quest for a new project. Some are basics - tone-on-tones - and some are multicolored prints that you can plan a whole quilt around. If you're in need of help for ideas, or for working through issues you're having with a project, stop in and chat with a staff member - we'll talk through the problem with you, and try to help you find a solution. Sometimes, all it takes is an extra set of eyes and/or ears.

If you are coming to see us:
-Masks are mandatory, for both customers and staff.
-Please sanitize at the door when you come in. Your hands must be completely dry before you can touch the fabric.
-Store capacity is 4 customers at once.
-We will remain closed on Sundays until further notice.

**A note for our customers who order online and choose Store Pickup - orders are processed on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. If you order on an alternate day, or after closing, your order may not be filled until the next processing day. We thank you for your understanding. We're doing our very best to make your Yankee Pride experience a good one, whether you're walking among the bolts or shopping from your couch.

Quilt-Along with Judy

Judy is finished with the top of her rendition of Blue Boardwalk (photo above, at right). Isn't it gorgeous? In addition, the changes she made in fabric colors (star borders) and in the flying geese layout, make her quilt look very different than the original (photo above, at left). Her updated instructions, using Studio 180 tools, are available by clicking here. You can print them out for yourself and make your own version! For a close-up of Judy's quilt, click on the photo.

 Block of the Month Projects

Update: "Nebula" has begun! You can still get in on the fun, so if you need some bright colors and a new project, give us a call to sign up.

Update: "American Glory" has begun! There is also some room left in this BOM - our sample quilt is hanging in the shop, and is much prettier than a simple photo, so stop in and see it.

Coming soon: "Amish With a Twist"
This Nancy Rink design will be our next BOM, and we're twisting it a bit more - we'll be using Moda "Grunge" instead of solids in the quilt! Look for more information in future issues of the newsletter.

Recent Fabric Arrivals

These are the highlights of recent arrivals. Click on the photo for a closeup, and click here if you're interested in purchasing any of these fabrics by the yard on our website:

Gossamer Garden

by Henry Glass

Don't butterflies remind you of spring? The warmer breezes and blooming flowers draw butterflies to our gardens - we sometimes stop what we're doing just to watch a butterfly flutter by. These two prints (at left) are lovely for borders, block  centers, and backing. The panel (photo below) can easily be cut apart with each square bordered for a quick and pretty project.

Batiks

by Hoffman

Another box of batiks has arrived, full of color and fun. Several of these prints can be used as accents, with their intense, rich color. You'll notice that a few of them are actually new designs!

Farm to Market and Folio

by Henry Glass

If you need a quick gift for a friend, check out the 'Farm to Market' apron (photo at right). All instructions are printed on the panel. Chicken lovers will adore this! The focus fabric in this line (top center in photo below) is a great choice for using as block centers or in an Uneven Rail Fence quilt. The 'Folio' tone-on-tones (left and right in photo below) work well as the rails, or as coordinates in lots of other projects.

When in Wisteria

by Hoffman

We saved the best for last. These stunning spring prints are flying out the door, and we've had them for less than a week. Make bags, quilts, and clothing - all will be showstoppers. The colors are glorious, and the designs immediately catch your eye. They are digital prints, so there is more depth of both color and design here than we're used to in our quilt fabrics. Take a look through your patterns, and see what you can make with one (or all) of these.

News, Notes, and other Interesting Stuff

Check out our social media channels (Facebook and Instagram) every Friday, for a new feature called "Finally Finished Fridays". Do you have projects that have been sitting in corners and closets, under piles and in drawers, waiting patiently for you to finish them? We do, too. Maybe it's the pandemic, or maybe it's just our motivation levels, but one by one, we're getting them done. We know from talking to you at the shop that you've been working on yours too.

Kathy submitted last week's entry. It's a Cindy Blackberg design, finished at 50" x 50", and she hand pieced, hand embroidered, hand appliqued, and hand quilted it! Kathy started it several years ago, and completed it last spring. It now hangs in her home.

If you have a project you've finished, whether it's sewn, quilted, knitted, embroidered, cross-stitched, or something else, email a photo (and info about the project) to [email protected]. We'd be happy to post it on a Friday for all our fans to see!

Thank you, as always, for your business, and thank you for being our customer. We love that you still believe in shopping local!
