Conversations that Matter Applications Are Open!

Do you wish you had a space to tackle the big questions, the ones that keep you up at night? Do you want to develop skills for participating in and leading better conversations? Do you want to find community on campus?

Conversations that Matter is a popular five-week fellowship in its second semester. Discussions will take place weekly and tackle big questions such as “For whom are we responsible?” and “How do we disagree?”Participants have the option of participating in two-week facilitator training upon the conclusion of the fellowship.

The Conversations that Matter fellowship will be facilitated by Center for Spiritual Life staff and is open to all Brandeis undergraduate students, whether attending on campus or remotely this semester. Apply today!

Join the Center for Spiritual Life and Protestant Chaplain Rev. Leah Rumsey to wind down your week with Christian prayer, scripture, and instrumental music. This service invites worshippers into a time of quiet meditation on scripture and resting with God in the midst of uncertainty. It will take place in the tent in the chapel courtyard. It begins at 5:30 on Thursdays, lasts less than an hour, and casual attire is welcome - come as you are. Write Interim Protestant Chaplain Rev. A special note for instrumentalists: We are still seeking instrumental musicians to play at this service! Club Conference

A requirement for all clubs, Club Conference provides important information related to organizing an event on campus. This session will spend some time addressing new guidelines for in-person events as well as virtual events. You'll also receive guidance and resources to assist your club with recruitment and retention of members, marketing, and other aspects of club life on the Brandeis campus. Multiple members from your organization may participate in this presentation and Q&A.

In this unprecedented state of affairs filled with uncertainties, we all need a fortification at a different level, which can fill us with inner security and peace. During this semester, Hindu Spiritual Advisor Partha Biswas will draw out many practical wisdom texts from the timeless classic, Bhagavad Gita, to empower us to courageously face the tough times and stay positive in our outlook. Virtual gatherings will continue every Thursday, 7:15 - 8:00 p.m. The program will begin with 15 minutes of meditation, followed by a 30 minute interactive discussion.

Zen Zone is facilitated by the Center for Spiritual Life and student leaders, and engages in a variety of mindful and contemplative practices. All levels of meditation experience welcome. We will continue to have Zen Zone at our regular times, but by video conference on Zoom, which is free to you.

Bystander Training

Join PARC for a special Club Leaders edition of Bystander Training Level One: Foundations of Intervention on Friday, September 11, 2-3:30pm ET. PARC's flagship program, this training discusses the roots of violence and unpacks the 5 D Framework: Direct, Distract, Distance, Delegate, and Document. If you haven't received training from PARC yet, start with this one!
 
If you have already completed Level One, there are options to attend Levels Two, Three, or Four! Any of these levels will satisfy the annual club leaders requirement in the Student Union Bylaws, section 8.

The Jews are Coming to Brandeis: A Conversation with the Creators of Israel’s Hit Satire

The Jews are Coming (Ha-Yehudim Baim) is an Israeli Academy Award-winning satire now in its fourth season, airing on Kan 11, one of the official channels of the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation. The sketch comedy covers the history of the Jewish people from biblical times to the present, from Moses to Barbie and everything in between. Joyful Rosh Hashanah Family Services

Your invitation awaits to join the BJEP community’s all welcoming, inclusive and joyful service for High Holiday Family Services, from the comfort and safety of your home. Participate in community, find meaning in the prayers, sing loudly, learn more and reflect on the year as a family. BJEP’s Jewish Sunday School High Holiday family services integrate tradition and creativity, and we welcome the Brandeis community to join us.
Services run a little over an hour. RSVP/Zoom details sent one hour before services, along with link to Siddur (prayer reference sheet) which will be shared on screen as well.
