MARCH NEWS FROM THE BARN
Community Is Our Foundation
Our Community is the foundation for all we do at High Hopes. As our mission states, each day we strive to “foster a vibrant community where horse and human interactions improve lives”. The ability to understand and respond to the needs in our community is critical.

As we navigate through the lessons learned over the past year, High Hopes continues to focus on providing services that can meet the changing needs in our community. Some of those programs include Reins of Empowerment, specially designed to work with youth development, and our Memory Care Programs, for individuals and caregivers suffering from memory care issues. To participate in these programs, click here.

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT
Allan Ziegra

Allan has been volunteering since July of 2016! He currently leads in our lesson program on Wednesdays and has been a staple in our evening lesson program for many years.

Allan is personable and gets along with everyone! He checks in with his participants, is engaging, and always promoting their independence. We greatly appreciate his reliability, and flexibility with any needs we have!

Thank you Allan for volunteering over 350 hours at High Hopes!
To get to know Allan better, we asked him a few questions:

What are your favorite foods?
This time of year, any soup of the day from Coffees.

What does your “Best Day Ever” include?
A sunny day hiking with my dog, Brook.

What is the best part of volunteering at High Hopes?
Being able to see the connection between the horses and participants and the progress they make every week with each class.

What is your favorite thing to do at High Hopes?
My favorite thing to do at High Hopes is be a leader and get to know each participant and horse.
IT TAKES A VILLAGE
Like most things at High Hopes, we’d be nowhere without the help of many, many hands who help to feed and care for our horses.

In an average year we feed over 5,000 bales of hay and 800 bags of grain, all told some 190,000 pounds total. This is why we utilize the help of over 30 volunteers a week to help us with our daily horse care activities. But amidst all that heavy lifting is a lot of fun!
Interested in helping to care for our horses by participating in an AM feeding? Contact Emily Belliveau at 860-434-1974 x 112 or ebelliveau@highhopestr.org
LET'S TAILGATE!
Thank you to our Corporate Partners

The Big Barn Tailgate is off to a great start with the support of our generous Corporate Partners. This event provides critical financial support of High Hopes programs and participants, and we couldn’t do it without their support.

Many thanks to Dominion Energy and Benchmark Wealth Management for leading the herd as Event Partners!
