Before the first day of school there are a few important updates you should know.  The first day of school is Wednesday, August 17th. School starts at 7:45 AM. Please mark St. Peter Catholic School Open House on your calendar; Monday, August 15th from 4:00-6:00 PM. Below you will find important information regarding school information.

Drop-off Procedures
1. Enter from West High Street (between the school and small state parking lot)
2. Students in grades 1-8 should use Drop-off line. Pre-K and K students may be walked to front entrance doors. We recommend working toward dropping K off as the year progresses.
3. First car should pull up to and stop before the yellow crosswalk and/or the STOP sign.
4. Students MUST exit the vehicle from the passenger side once stopped in the drop-off zone (see diagram).
Parking/Crosswalk Procedures
1. To reduce line congestion, typically only parents with Pre-K or K students should park and cross students. (Must be walked to crosswalk.) Students with cumbersome items or special circumstances may also use the parking area and be walked across.
2. NO PARKING in the first row of spaces (see diagram).
3. NO PARKING in spaces even with or beyond the crosswalk.
4. NO PARKING along the fence bordering the wooded area.
5. Park facing OUT of the parking space.
6. Students should NOT be dropped off between parking rows (see diagram).
7. EVERYONE must use the crosswalk when crossing the drop-off line; and need to wait to be crossed by the Safety Patrol or adult on duty.
8. DO NOT drop students off between the rows of parking spaces in the “Non drop-off area” (see diagram).
9. 2 lines should be used to exit the lot.
Pick-up Procedures
1. All cars entering the lot, parking & pick-up, need to have a St. Peter hang tag with the student last name.
2. Enter from West High Street (between the school and small state parking lot)
3. Gates open at 2:55 pm for parking.
4. Parking begins in spaces nearest school past the crosswalk, filling in each double row progressing toward the entrance. Once the first row is filled cars can begin filling in the second double row of parking spaces, then finally the row that borders Main St. (we recommend backing into these spaces)
5. At 3:07 pm the pick-up line is opened and cars can begin lining up. Pick-up line cars need to stay as far left as possible so cars wishing to park can still enter the lot.
6. Students will be called to the 1st 6-10 cars by last name. Once loading is complete they will be released and the process repeated until all students are picked up.

School Lunch
School lunch is paid through your FACTS Parent Portal. School lunch charges are as follows: Lunch is 2.75 per student. A la carte charges: extra main entree $2.00, extra side $1.50 and milk is $.50. You will get an email from St. Peter/FACTS when your lunch balance needs funds, then you will need to go in and add funds to your account.  The free & reduced lunch application is attached in the section below. Please fill out the form if you think you may qualify. We receive federal money toward professional development for teachers, and title services for our students based on the number of children that qualify for free and reduced meals. Preschool lunch is included in the cost of preschool student tuition. If you have any questions regarding lunch billing you may email Kbezler@stpeterjc.org.

Attendance
It is essential that St. Peter be notified of all student absences. If your child will be absent/needs to leave early, a note, email, or phone call should be made to the school office (573-636-8922). Parents can email attendance@stpeterjc.org with absences and homework requests. The office will notify the teachers as necessary. It is most helpful to notify the office before 8:30 AM before official attendance is complete. If you are planning a vacation and your child will miss 3 or more days of school be sure to fill out a Vacation Request Form from the office. This is to be completed 2 weeks prior so that teachers can make assignments available for the absence.

Medicine
If your child requires medicine to be given at school you must fill out a permission to administer form with dosage information. Medicine forms are sent home at Open House and should only be returned if/when your student needs medicine that the parent provides either over the counter or prescription medicine. The school does not provide medicine. Contact our school nurses with any questions or concerns aberendzen@stpeterjc.org or egarnett@stpeterjc.org.

Health Records
Under Missouri law, student health records must be up to date in order to attend school. Please note, the Diocese of Jefferson City no longer accepts religious exemption as a reason not to receive required vaccinations. The school nurse keeps records of student immunizations and is required by law to report to the state of Missouri the names of students whose immunizations are deficient. If student records are deficient, a reminder is sent to the parents. Parents may be asked to keep students out of school until required immunizations are received.

VIRTUS
All parents in K-8th grade must have VIRTUS and complete the background check for their children to attend St. Peter Catholic School. As always, please stay up to date with your VIRTUS training. This is required for all parents/guardians that have students K-8 in schools in our Diocese. Some things do expire and/or need to be updated so it is good to log into your account regularly.  Preschool parents are highly encouraged to have VIRTUS so they can attend school events and volunteer throughout the school year. To complete VIRTUS go to virtusonline.org HERE.

School Newsletter
The school newsletter is emailed out on Thursdays. It is here that exciting and important announcements are made, updates to the calendar, schedules, and events are shared. It also includes links to things that involve our students and parish.  Newsletters are also posted on the school webpage after they have been emailed for anything you might have missed.

School Text Alert
The school wide text system is available for parents to sign up to receive school news, and can be found on the school webpage, or the link attached. It is also posted at the bottom of the newsletter. Important updates, such as weather related cancellations and upcoming events are often communicated through text message Sign Up For Text Alerts Here. (mobile-text-alerts.com)

The school website has a lot of important information and is updated regularly. It contains many links, the school calendar, lunch menu, the student handbook, as well as staff phone extensions and emails and much more. St. Peter Catholic School Webpage

School fees are billed through FACTS Parent Portal and you will pay through FACTS financial. You will receive a notification for when your fees will be taken out per the plan you signed up for. The FACTS system will send you an email when your fees will be taken out. You may also print from there any receipt you might need; ex. Preschool payments.

Open House
Open House is on Monday, August 15th from 4:00-6:00 PM. Be sure to pick up your free Spirit Wear shirt from Home and School.

Picture Day
Wagner will do online ordering only again this year. Fall pictures will be taken for the yearbook on September 15, 2022. This is uniform dress only. If your child is absent or unable to take pictures that day, picture retakes will be November 3, 2022. We will also have a spring picture day on March 24, 2023. This is a dress up or dress down day. See the school handbook for guidelines in the dress code section located on the school webpage.

Early Out Tuesdays
Early out Tuesdays are Dress Down Days and take place the second Tuesday of each month. Students may dress down on the early out Tuesdays in school approved dress down clothing {review the student handbook}. School will dismiss at 1:30 PM on scheduled early out days and there will be no after school care for Pre-K thru 8th grade. The first early out Tuesday is September 14th.

Scrip/Fundraising
A new Scrip order form, the Scrip and fundraising explanation letter to all families, and the electronic Scrip sign up form (if you are not already signed up) are all attached HERE as well as on our webpage. All Scrip orders need to be placed by 10:30 AM. on Mondays to be guaranteed for that week. If you have a paper order, please use the blue pouches (if you have them) to send them to school. Your family receives 50% of the percentage of the product you buy.
There will be other fundraising opportunities throughout the school year. All money received from these fundraisers will go into your account to be used for the next school year. The money you earn can be used for preschool-8th grade fees, it can be sent to Helias for school fees, or donated to church or school.

We are still collecting Moser receipts, Coke bottle caps and codes, and Box Tops for Education. Box Tops for Education has an App for parents to use to scan Box Tops with the benefits coming straight to St. Peter. These are really simple and a great program for our school. Your participation is appreciated!

Job Opportunities
St. Peter School is still looking to fill a couple of positions (listed in section below) including substitute teachers. If you are interested or know someone that would be a great fit, please encourage them to apply on the Diocsean website and email Gayle Trachsel, Principal gtrachsel@stpeterjc.org. We are also still looking for volunteers for the Cafeteria, School Advisory Council, and Home and School. If interested in running for school advisory Council, contact Mrs. Trachsel or Jessie Pitts. All names for the school advisory Council must be approved by Father Secrist, or Father Roberto and be active members at St. Peter Church or St Andrew Church.

From the Office
Parents, please make sure you have set up your financial account in your FACTS Family Portal. This is how lunch and incidentals (i.e. uniforms, athletics, preschool fees, etc.) get paid. This means you will have to assign a payment option (credit card or bank account) to the financial page. If you have any questions, contact Kelley Bezler in the school office at kbezler@stpeterjc.org.
The school office will be open Monday, August 8th thru Thursday, August 11 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Office staff will also be available during Open House on Monday, August 15th from 4:00-6:00PM.

Definition of an Active Parishioner
An ACTIVE Parishioner:
  • Is registered in the parish
  • Regularly participates in Mass and the Sacraments
  • Sacrificially tithing to the parish
  • Is involved in parish activities and ministries as noted on the annual Parish Stewardship Commitment of Time, Talent and Treasure form

In the St. Peter Parish annual review of active parishioner status, we discovered that MANY school families have not completed a Parish Stewardship Commitment form for 2021-22.
Any St. Peter Parish school family who has NOT completed Parish Stewardship Commitment form for 2021-22 is asked to do so as soon as possible. The Parish is moving to a new data system that uses ministry commitments from our current system. If you did not complete a Stewardship form for 2021-22, you do not have time and talent commitments listed in your parish record (one of the requirements for being considered “active”). The new system will not know you’ve “done this forever,” nor will it pick up names from the current Ministry Scheduler.
Please follow the link below, download the form and email it to stewardship@saintpeterjc.org. You may also pick up a form from the back of church July 30/31 and August 6/7 or in the Parish Office and return it in the collection basket at Mass or to the office no later than August 21. Our new system will be live sometime next month, and we want you to be able to participate in your chosen ministries…your parish needs your service. Thank you!

Lunch 2022/2023
The St. Peter School lunch program pricing is as follows for school year 2022-23:

Student lunch (includes 1/2 pint of milk and Salad Bar) $2.75 each
A la carte (meat) $2.00
A la carte (veggie) $1 .50
Milk (1/2 pint 1% white, chocolate or skim) .50 cents each

Pricing continues to rise daily for food, labor, and energy. We will try to keep pricing as low as possible to help each student have an enjoyable, healthy lunch.

This is will all be billed/paid through your FACTS Family Portal so be sure your financial information is set up and complete.

Lunch is a prepaid account (through your FACTS Family Portal) with a minimum of $10 to start with. FACTS will send you notifications to add money to the account once you get below the $10 minimum.
Thank you!
2022/2023 After School Care
If you are wanting your student to attend After School Care next year and you did not click YES when you registered, or are unsure, or need to unregister please send an email to the Director, Betsy Bartow @ bbartow@stpeterjc.org no later than August 1st. Thank you and have a great Summer!
