Greetings from Florida Atlantic,

Your student is starting classes this week and below is a resource that may serve as a support during this time of new beginnings.

The National College Health Assessment (NCHA) is a research survey administered by the American College Health Association (ACHA) to assist in collecting data about students’ behaviors on the most prevalent health topics. Respondents to the survey are asked about issues that might have negatively impacted their academic performance within the past year.

With keen awareness to the NCHA data, we are writing today to share that our Health & Wellness team created a video to serve as a resource for our incoming students and families with a focus on:

  • MYFAU Health & Wellness resource page – including information about care provided by our Student Health Services and Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)*
  • Resources on-campus available to students and statistics specifically in relation to our Owl Family,
  • More information about the Family Handbook
  • Techniques and strategies for sensitive conversations with your students

* Student Health Services and CAPS provide Confidential Care: HIPAA Compliant FERPA Releases Not Applicable

FYI, charges apply for Student Health Services (listed on the website) and should never be a barrier to care
  • No money collected up front
  • Self-pay discount available
  • Charges are sent to student account
  • Accepts most insurance

Multiple impediments related to students’ Health & Wellness arose as a result of the National College Health Assessment, and this video approaches these in a way that is digestible and hopefully you find it helpful. Here is the link to the video.
