This week Governor Abbott expanded the Phase 2 plan to 'Open Texas' to include the opening of Driver Education programs this week, opening of water parks at a 25% capacity starting today, and practices for adult recreational sporting programs will be able to begin Sunday. However, adult recreational games and competitions won't be able to begin until June 15. Youth day camps, overnight camps and professional sporting leagues will also be able to start Sunday, but with limitations. Spectators are not permitted for indoor events. Travis County released an updated risk assessment tool yesterday afternoon, which now helps better guide the re-opening of the local economy. The updated guidelines includes a tracking tool for hospital admissions based on a 7-day average. Currently, there are on average 8 to 9 hospital COVID-19 related admissions per day (according to the 7-day rolling average) in a five county Central Texas area, which includes Travis County. That tracker currently puts the Austin-Travis County area in the Stage 3 Risk category, which is the same stage we have been in since the risk assessment launched several weeks ago. If average hospitalizations were to increase to 20, it would trigger Stage 4, and include enhanced mitigation practices. Under an average of 5 hospitalizations over the course of 7 -days, would lower to Stage 2. There are currently 88 individuals hospitalized due to COVID-19 in a five-county area, including Travis County. Click here for more details.

Austin-Travis County is reporting that there have been 3,124 positive COVID-19 cases to date in Travis County. That number is up by 412 compared to the same time last week, 367 the week before that and 343 the week before that one. There have been 52 positive COVID-19 cases in the three zip codes associated with Lakeway (78734, 78738 and 78669), which is up by 6 from the same time last week. Several activities and programs will begin next week, with proper social distancing guidelines in place. KidVenture (Youth), Tae Kwon Do (Adult), Therapeutic Tai Chi (Adult) and Player2Player Volleyball (Youth) will start on June 1. A variety of other kids summer programs and sporting activities will also start throughout the month of June and July. Click here for a full list and to make a reservation. The paperback library is also open at the Activity Center with limited capacity and proper social distancing guidelines. It's encouraged to call prior to coming at (512) 261-1010 to ensure there is available space. Individuals can also drop off their books at the front door or in the Activity Center lobby. Additionally, Movies In The Park will begin on June 12 at the lower level of City Park with the movie "Secret Life of Pets 2." Proper social distancing guidelines should be adhered to. Beware of phone calls asking for money or personal information originating from a City of Lakeway Government number like (512) 314-7500 - which is the City main line. A recent call received from a resident indicated she received an automated call from Amazon saying there was an incorrect charge on her account, and the number appeared to come from the City of Lakeway. The resident did the right thing and called the City directly to let them know of the situation. Beware of callers asking for financial information or personal identification details. If someone asks for these details, hang up and call the company/organization back directly to follow-up. Phone numbers can easily be spoofed to mimic the phone numbers of legitimate companies/organizations, so do not rely on your phone display when receiving a call.
