News Brief

7th Annual Pineapple Award Cancellation

The Ross-Chillicothe Convention & Visitors Bureau has made the difficult decision to cancel its annual Tourism Banquet & Pineapple Awards for 2020. This allows our partners to focus on their organizations during these trying times. We look forward to celebrating the tourism heroes in 2021!

Outdoor Recreation Issue
Hopewell Culture National Historical Park
Explore the magnificent earthworks created by the Native American people, known as the Hopewell Culture, over 2,000 years ago. The National Park is comprised of six sites, with four of the sites being open daily from dawn to dusk for visiting. The four sites that are open include Mound City Group, Hopewell Mound Group, Hopeton Earthworks, and Seip Earthworks.
Buzzard's Roost Nature Preserve
Buzzard's Roost Nature Preserve conserves nearly 1,200 acres of rugged and scenic countryside. There's over 5 miles of forested trail. Meander past ponds, crumbling remains of old homesteads, and deep wooded ravines. The South Point Lookout Trail offers views of the vertical cliffs of sandstone and shale that descends into the beautiful Paint Creek Gorge.

Kinnikinnick Fen
This Ross County Park is a 154 acre wetland complex along Kinnikinnick Creek. The preserve features a 1.8 mile walking path that passes through wetlands, woods, and wildflower fields. Throughout the year, you can find several threatened plant species. You never know what you may find including the muskrat featured in the photo. There are three observation decks that offer wonderful views.
