As the nation prepares to honor the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 18, we are reminded of the actions taken by Mayor Richard C. Irvin and the Aurora City Council to officially make the federal holiday a paid holiday for the City of Aurora. Mayor Irvin was joined by City Council members and union representatives to sign the ordinance into law on August 28, 2018 - the 55th anniversary of the historic March on Washington. While we celebrate virtually this year, it is imperative to remember the vision and voice of Dr. King as we strive for equity and inclusion in every area of our community.
