China's Battle Against 2019-nCov (2)
China has taken the most comprehensive and rigorous measures in prevention and control of the spread of the Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCov) . The whole country has been mobilized and the people are united. We have full confidence and capability to win the battle against the virus.
We wish to share with you these facts and answers.
Facts & Updates
As of Feb 5 (Beijing Time), the number of confirmed cases of 2019-nCov rose to 28,018 in Chinese mainland, including 563 deaths. A total of 1153 patients have been discharged from hospital after recovery.

Charter flights have brought over 1,500 people back to Hubei Province from overseas.
  • The virus might spread via digestive system.
  • No evidence of virus transmission through pets.
  • The virus can be transmitted by touch.
  • The virus can survive up to five days in environments.
  • People are generally susceptible to the virus. The incubation period is within 14 days.
  • Main clinical symptoms are fever, fatigue and dry cough.
  • Some patients do not have a fever before get diagnosed.

Clinical trials of the United States biotech company Gilead Sciences' experimental drug Remdesivir have begun in Wuhan.
The registration for clinical trials on the antiviral drug Remdesivir has been approved, and the first batch of pneumonia patients infected by the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) are expected to start taking the drug on Thursday.

The drug has shown good antiviral activity against SARS and MERS coronavirus in previous cell and animal experiments. Its clinical trials against Ebola infections have been conducted abroad. In related domestic research, it has also shown fairly good antiviral activity against the 2019-nCoV at the cellular level.
Foreigners in China
  • As of noontime of Feb. 6 (Beijing TIme), 19 foreign nationals have been confirmed of 2019-nCoV pneumonia, among them two have been cured and discharged from hospital, 17 are receiving treatment in isolation.

  • China cares about the safety and health of foreigners in China as much as about its own citizens and guarantee their working and living conditions.

  • The Chinese government has provided timely, multilingual information and advisory services on epidemic prevention and control to foreigners in China.
  • Hubei has strengthened epidemic prevention and treatment concerning foreigners, and provided guidance to foreign patients in accordance with the tiered diagnosis and treatment system and as required by the community grid management.

  • Many provinces and cities have included foreigners in the working mechanism of local governments and communities to meet their needs in daily life, epidemic prevention and to offer support to them.

The construction was done by more than 7,000 workers. At the peak time, over 4,000 workers and about 1,000 construction machines and trucks worked on the site.
The facility has 1,000 beds in 419 wards, including 30 intensive care units.
