Winter Viral Infections Are Here!
As many of you have already experienced, there are a multitude of aggressive viral infections this season, more powerful than previous years. Some people are sick from Influenza A virus, as confirmed by a nasal swab, but many others, who are just as sick if not sicker, have other viral infections that are taking weeks to completely resolve. For this reason, only getting a flu vaccination is not going to protect you, and even if you come down with Influenza, the type you get might not match the type given in this year's vaccination.
Here are some recommendations that I have found to be very helpful to support a healthy immune system:
- If you decide to get a flu vaccine, please search out a pharmacy, urgent care, or medical facility that offers the preservative free option.
- Take increased dose of Vitamin D3, 5000-10,000 iu daily with food, the upper dose for when you are sick and take this higher dose for no longer than 2 weeks.
- Take increased Vitamin C 2-5000mg daily in divided doses.
- Consider taking our Argentyn silver nasal and oral spray daily, or at the very least, while traveling or in close proximity to a sick person. We carry this at our office
- Drink plenty of non-caffeinated fluids, up to your body weight, in ounces, each day.
- Get at least 7, preferably 8 hours of sleep, each day
- Get some exercise/activity most days.
- Reduce sugar, starches, and white colored carbohydrates in your diet, as these suppress your immune system.
- If you get sick, consider coming into our office for an IV Immune and IV sliver treatment, it greatly helps you fight the infection faster and not get as sick.
