Dear HCC Contractor Academy Supporters,

On behalf of the HCC Contractor Academy, I want to share my thoughts and prayers to friends and families that are impacted directly or indirectly by the COVID-19 Virus. This unprecedented pandemic we are facing is going to test the resilience of our country, our community, our businesses, our families and life as we know it today. For that reason and with much gratitude, it is important we update you on what is happening at HCC Contractor Academy and address our plan as we work through this situation.

HCC Contractor Academy was created in 2003 and has been the pillar of work force development and a premier small business resource in Colorado for the construction community. Since then, we have withstood a recession, construction declines, and political uncertainty and we have always come back stronger. Together, we can get through this pandemic. And we will be bigger, better and wiser than before.

Our current situation has forced us to temporarily refocus on getting our training programs rescheduled, revamped, and deliver customized information that is relevant and urgent to participants. All of this is happening while we work to change our in-person trainings to virtual classes and all Board of Directors and Committee meetings to conference and video calls. We are doing this with the limited availability of staff, but we are committed to keep our eye on the future and ensure that all our participants, facilitators and sponsors remain confident that we will provide beneficial training for the entire HCC membership.
Prior to the COVID-19 crisis the HCC Contractor Academy Board of Directors created a strategic plan, which included:

·          Making the current training curriculum more robust and refreshed.

·          Adding intermediate classes, which focus on preparing business owners to take their companies to the next level.

·          Creating a program aimed at business owners to scale and build a sustainable company.

We worked to update the HCC Contractor Academy bylaws that ensure 501c3 compliance and refreshed the HCC Contractor Academy brand and logo. We started with three very successful academy classes and had a full schedule planned for the remainder of the year.

In addition, we had a very successful first quarter fundraising effort that sent a clear message to the community -- that our members are committed to making HCC Contractor Academy the premier construction education program in Denver and demonstrated the confidence supporters have of our values and follow through.

As our community works together to get past this current hurdle, it is hard not to dwell on the circumstances created by COVID-19. As we have limited access to everyday conveniences, and we plan our days differently than we did weeks ago, we welcome the lessons that will surface through this dilemma.

Let’s use this time to think about how we can change lives in the future. Let’s look at how we can continue to advance the lives of our families, our employees, our businesses and our HCC members. While supporting industry education, our goal is to provide today’s construction workers as the industry leaders and entrepreneurs of tomorrow.

HCC Contractor Academy is committed to you, and remain committed to provide a space where we focus on economic recovery, continue building partnerships and collectively growing out toolbox of knowledge. We know we can be the vehicle needed to keep our workforce strong at a time we are as essential as ever. We know this because we work with the best and brightest, passionate leaders such as you.

Think about how since 2003, how our industry has shared it’s time treasure and talent to expand opportunities in construction for the (E)* community. Let’s not let this pandemic define who we are let’s work together and we will come through this BIGGER, BETTER AND WISER than ever before.

Thank you for your support of the HCC Contractor Academy and believing that we matter.
