Now it's time to donate that extra candy!!

Drop-off your wrapped, unopened candy and Operation Gratitude will send it in care packages to the members of our Armed Forces.

K-5TH ELA CURRICULUM ADOPTION COMMITTEE UPDATE

Getting our students access to standards aligned, rigorous learning opportunities, such as a high quality ELA curriculum, are more important than ever as our students readjust to classroom learning. Our kids are faced with significant learning loss after the personal and academic disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The good news is teachers utilizing high-quality ELA curriculum can create 4-7 months of additional academic progress for their students, significantly reducing learning loss and closing opportunity gaps.

How does the Committee, achieve that goal? The Committee consists of stakeholders from every aspect of RBUSD: parents, teachers in the classroom, special education, and on special assignment, administrators and school board members, focused on a needs-based assessment of the qualities an excellent and rigorous ELA curriculum must have.

The Committee is learning about the science of reading and best practices in literacy instruction, as well as how to evaluate curriculums in the coming months. NEWS FROM THE DEI COMMITTEE

El Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) combines the ancient Aztec custom of celebrating ancestors with All Souls' Day, a holiday that Spanish invaders brought to Mexico starting in the early 1500s.

The holiday, which is celebrated mostly in Mexico on November 1 and 2, is like a family reunion—except dead ancestors are the guests of honor. Day of the Dead is a joyful time that helps people remember the deceased and celebrate their memory.
