Spring Semester is underway.
Welcome back, IceHawks!
Spring semester is now underway at Lake Superior College, and we're thrilled to welcome new and returning students! The students we've spoken with these first few days are happy to be here, feel safe and supported, and are looking forward to another successful semester. Thanks for all you are doing to help students feel welcome and supported.

Thank you also to everyone who helped welcome students to campus last week for the Early Bird events. We heard a lot of very positive feedback, both in person and on social media. Check out some pics from the first few days of classes and early bird below.

FOX 21 did a nice story about how local campuses, including Lake Superior College, have prepared to safely welcome students back to campus for spring semester.
Thank you, Affinity Plus!
Thank you to Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union for the generous contribution of $5,000 to the Lake Superior College Foundation, to help support the Lake Superior College Student Food Shelf. We are grateful for their ongoing support and partnership, and look forward to welcoming them to our main campus as they open up a satellite branch in the main corridor later this year.
Lake Superior College to host Healthcare Open House on February 11
Know anyone who may be interested in learning more about the various healthcare programs at Lake Superior College? Encourage them to attend LSC's Healthcare Open House on Thursday, February 11, from 2:00 to 6 p.m. on main campus. The Open House is free and open to the public; however, due to COVID-19 related restrictions, registration is required in advance and the event has been modified to ensure the safety of all guests. Much like the successful Open Houses at ERTC and the Downtown Campus in the fall, this event is primarily an opportunity to market these programs and encourage scheduled and spaced out campus tours (either on the Open House date or on other dates/times) and then much of the follow-up conversations with advisors, financial aid, LSC Foundation and other support services happens (either virtually or in person) after the prospective student tours the campus. These have been going very well and we have seen an impressive application rate from attendees. Thanks to everyone involved!

Hawks Landing is tentatively scheduled to be completed by the end of Spring Semester. Please excuse the noise and construction in that area, but the final product will be well worth it. Very exciting!

  • Student Success Day is scheduled for Tuesday, February 9. If you are interested in presenting a Zoom session, please submit a proposal using this online form. Send questions to jenna.trenberth@lsc.edu.

  • LSC's Healthcare Open House is scheduled for Thursday, February 11, 2:00 - 6:00 p.m., on LSC's main campus. Guests will learn about healthcare programs offered at LSC, tour the main campus, and visit classrooms and labs with state-of-the-art equipment. Registration is required.

  • LSC students and employees are invited to participate in the Power in Diversity Student Leadership Conference January 29-30, 2021, hosted by St. Cloud State University. Lake Superior College is proud to be a sponsor of the event (Thanks President Rogers!). The theme Unleash Justice invites attendees and presenters to explore and discuss justice issues facing communities of color and oppressed groups. The event is free and all are encouraged to attend as you are able. Please visit the event website for more details and to register.

As always, if you have any story ideas, pictures you'd like to share and/or info on upcoming events, please send them to marketing@lsc.edu so we can include them in the newsplash. Thanks!
