We are releasing this issue over the Presidents' Day weekend, so I hope this finds you enjoying the holiday period. Classes will resume as normal Tuesday morning.

We have several special events scheduled for the week ahead including The Scholastic Book Fair and Friday's Knight at the Carnival and Dance. Books always make great gifts throughout the year, so please consider visiting the Book Fair (details and the online option below). The Book Fair will run through next Friday. As for Friday's Knight Carnival and Dance, this is another quality PTSA led production which the students are looking forward to. They are seeking a hand with a few donations (list below), so if you might be able to contribute in some way, the help would be most appreciated!

Finally, good luck to our Knight basketball teams as they have key games coming up Wednesday away at Walker Middle School - season record. They are very well coached and have been playing great basketball. This is their final regular season game of the year.

Thank you for looking over this latest edition.

With Knight Pride,

Stephanie R. Jackson, M. Ed.
Principal
Lake Nona Middle School

If you should ever see or hear of something suspicious or unusual, please say something right away to any teacher, administrator, coach or our SRO. Thank you.

Basketball
Our Knight basketball teams were victorious this week after defeating Freedom and South Creek! We are extremely proud of our teams as they are one game away from finishing out the regular season with winning records. The girls are currently undefeated with a record of 6-0 and our gentlemen are 5-1. Thank you to all of the fans that came out and supported our teams on 8th Grade Night to make it a memorable one for all involved.

This week's games are going to be crucial for our Knights. This will determine the division champion for the girls side and if our gentlemen win, it will place them in 2nd place for the division. Both teams will travel to Walker Middle School on Wednesday. First game starts at 5pm.

Students have begun visiting the fair though their language arts classes and that will continue this upcoming week. The fair will be open through Friday the 21st and students can come before school, during lunch, and after school as well. Scholastic has added a cashless EWallet option where parents can go online and fund a student's account.

Book Fair in the media center continues this week

Any purchases made at the fair do help out the LNMS Media Center and its programs. Here is the link to the fair homepage where you can set up an EWallet, shop online for many more selections and view other fair information:

Post Literacy Week Reminders
Florida Literacy Week ended January 31, 2020 but reading habits should still continue for a lifetime. The love of reading begins at home; create a "home library" for your family to access. Our students enjoyed the week with door decorating contests, bookmark content and reading the most minutes.
