Enter to Learn. Go Forth to Serve.

Dear O’Hara families,

We have just received confirmation from the Archdiocese of Portland Department of Catholic Schools that, in accordance with orders from the Governor of Oregon, we will remain closed through April 28. As difficult as this is to process, I want to assure our community that we will get through this, we will be creative and we will continue to faithfully educate your children. As we complete day 1 of Digital Learning, I am so impressed with our teachers and their ability to adapt to this new learning environment. Although we recognize that this is not ideal, and we would all rather be in the classrooms and hallways of O’Hara, I am confident in the strength of our community to rally together and make this a successful adventure in Digital Learning.

At this time, we will continue this week of Digital Learning as planned. We will enjoy Spring Break, to the best of our ability, and be so thankful for time with our families. And then, we will return to Digital Learning on Monday, March 30 ready to learn!

The leadership of our school will work in partnership with our teachers to create the most meaningful lessons and activities we possibly can and continue to put the education of your children first and foremost. We will also work with our School Advisory Council and other key stakeholders to develop plans for the weeks ahead. We will send out a parent survey later this week to gather information and feedback on how we can best meet the needs of our students.

In addition to our Digital Learning, we are working to build and further connect our community through our social media channels. We love seeing pictures of our students completing their assignments, and are grateful that this avenue for community is readily available. We encourage you to follow us, if you don’t already, on Facebook and Instagram .

Thank you to our families and our community for being supportive during this time. Thank you for all of the very kind and positive emails about our efforts with Digital Learning. We are sincerely grateful for your partnership in Catholic education and are so incredibly grateful for our O’Hara Catholic School community.

Please continue to pray for our medical community that they stay strong during these uncertain times and for anyone who has been affected by this virus, may they know God’s peace and love.

Sincerely,
Tammy Conway
Principal
