Friends:
Though we are encouraging all to return when they are able to regular Sunday worship at 10 a.m, we have also decided to continue to livestream all worship services.
The challenge for the staff has been how to keep the livestream engaging, a worship service unto itself without feeling like eavesdropping or looking over heads and watching from the back.
What we are hearing most is the desire of online worshipers to experience some semblance of community, like the ability to chat with others (the chat function on Facebook is good for this, and we're going to try to encourage it more on YouTube).
This Sunday May 9, we are running an experiment of worshiping via the Zoom format. We will be able to see the service like usual, and those watching will be able to see each other, pray together, etc.
If you would like to participate, join me at this special Sunday morning Zoom link at 9:55 a.m. For this experiment, we don't expect the quality to be too high, so you can switch to your regular source if need be. However, if we like it, we'll evaluate whether we should make the investment in the equipment and technology (always considerable).
One goal our livestreamers have is an additional camera that will be able to capture more faces and be closer to the chancel with the ability to "pan" (whatever that is). With cabling and equipment, that's an additional $2,000. As well, we would like to regularly schedule two techs each worship service to improve the quality of the livestream, an additional $80 a week. Special gifts are welcomed.
