Please Join Us for Power Women, Power Tools®!
We hope you can join us on Saturday, March 13 at 11:00 am (PST) for our 17th Annual Power Women, Power Tools ® event, presented by City National Bank. Register today!

Each year, this event brings together “power women” from all walks of life, including entertainment, corporate, government, faith, and civic to share their time, talents, and financial resources to support the work of Habitat LA. While we would love to be in person building together with current and future Habitat LA homeowners, to ensure the health and safety of our participants, this year’s event will be held virtually.
We are excited to feature an inspiring panel of Power Women, including the City of Long Beach’s District 1 Councilmember Mary Zendejas, City National Bank’s Senior Vice President of Marketing, Karen A. Clark, and Kathleen Buckley Domingo, the Senior Director of the Office of Life, Justice and Peace at the Archdiocese of Los Angeles – each of whom will share the tools they have in their toolbelt for community transformation, as well as highlights of Habitat LA’s work and local partnerships in Long Beach’s Washington Neighborhood.

This year’s event also includes a unique element with our Women’s Empowerment Marketplace, featuring local, female-owned businesses who are supporting our efforts by donating 10% of their sales to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles. This special opportunity is open now from February 13 - March 13. Please visit and shop at https://www.habitatla.org/2021-power-women-power-tools/womens-empowerment-marketplace/

And don’t forget to visit our online auction, which will be live from February 27 through March 13, where you can place a bid on a variety of exciting experiences, luxury packages, unique gifts and even brand new items from our ReStores! All funds raised from this event will help Habitat LA continue to transform the lives of hundreds of low-income families in need of decent affordable housing.

A sincere thank you to all of those that are supporting this exciting event! We look forward to you joining us on March 13, 2021.

In Partnership,
Erin Rank, President & CEO

Black History Month Education Celebration
In honor of Black History Month, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles and its partners in Long Beach’s Washington Neighborhood held a socially-distanced Caravan Education Celebration on Saturday, February 27. More than 400 residents and community partners participated in this interactive Caravan, which featured Black History displays by Washington Middle School students and the Locust Street Group. Prior to the caravan departure, participants watched cultural performances by inspirational praise dancers as well as a vibrant group of young steppers from the Young Gifted and Talented Black History Club (YGT) from Hughes Middle School. Thanks to Hughes Middle School, The Washington Middle School, The Washington Neighborhood Association, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Councilwoman Mary Zendejas’ office for their partnership! Stay tuned for video highlights from the celebration.
Taking Action: Advocating for Housing
Earlier this month, Habitat LA staff and homeowners participated in Habitat on the Hill and Habitat California’s annual advocacy event. Habitat on the Hill is a yearly, nationwide advocacy effort with U.S. Congressional leaders to discuss the current state of housing across the United States and what programs, policies, and resources can be maintained or expanded to help provide more safe and affordable housing for those in need.

This year, more than 500 Habitat staff, board members, and homeowners from across the country participated virtually and held more than 400 meetings with Congressional offices! For additional information and ways you can support Habitat’s national advocacy efforts, check out Habitat on the Hill 2021. Similarly, Habitat California’s annual advocacy day held more than 100 virtual meetings with California General Assembly members and Senate offices to discuss housing programs, policies, and resources at the state level.

For more information on what Habitat is advocating for at the state level and ways that you can support these efforts, check out Habitat California Advocacy 2021.

Did you know that Los Angeles ranks as one of the least affordable housing areas in the U.S.? Yet Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) is one of the few – if not only – affordable homeownership programs that serve low-income families. The overwhelming need for housing in our communities has provided Habitat LA with a unique opportunity to change lives in our neighborhoods.
