Recent Updates that May Affect YOUR Business
IMPORTANT UPDATES
The Cedar Park Chamber of Commerce and the City of Cedar Park’s Small Business Assistance Program continues to receive a great many applications. We will continue to receive those applications, but we do encourage you to send them in as soon as you can. The Task Force assigned to go over those applications will be looking at them soon, and we want your name to be in there for consideration. FEDERAL & STATE UPDATES FOR BUSINESS
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has great guidelines on what you can continue to do to keep your business safe during this COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Pandemic. Some of the guidelines include what you can do as an employer in the interim while your business may not be running at full capacity, how to prepare your business and employees, cleaning and disinfecting recommendations as well as other industry specific factsheets. TODAY, Governor Abbott will host a Small Business Webinar from 1-2pm. You will be able to connect with local experts on COVID-19 (Coronavirus) recovery resources and loan information for small businesses. Register here !

WILLIAMSON COUNTY UPDATES
Williamson County continues to have good resources as well for your small business. You can get information on how Governor Abbott’s updated order effects Williamson County, make a request to see if you are an Essential Business and many other questions can get answered here. CITY OF CEDAR PARK
While this isn’t business related, I believe this is family related which will help you be able to focus on your business (so it kind of works). Have you seen the link below about the Cedar Park Public Library? They have put together some great resources for not only you and your business, but for families. Some of the resources you can find on the Cedar Park Public Library Website include information on domestic and sexual abuse, financial resources, food assistance, legal resources and technology.

For the parents out there, they also have a wide variety of things for your children to look through. Some of the links take them to zoo and animal webcams, audio visual entertainment, book and story times, education and exercise. They also have Virtual Field Trips and Museum Tours. Be sure to check it out!
 
LEANDER ISD
A new update from Leander ISD states that they will Extend Chromebook Distribution for Elementary Students . They will offer an extended distribution to students in grades PreK – 5 th Grade who have limited or no access to a device at their homes.

If you have an LISD elementary student in your family and he or she needs a device, please visit LISD on Wednesday or Thursday (April 15 or April 16) from 3:30 – 6pm. at the following locations:

·          Wednesday, April 15 th | Winkley Elementary (2100 Pow Wow, Leander)
·          Thursday, April 16 th | Ronald Reagan Elementary (1700 E Park, Cedar Park)

Right now Twitter has 330 Million active monthly users and 145 million daily active users. As we have talked about multiple times in this series, know your demographic! Right now 63 % of Twitter users worldwide are actually between 35 and 65 years old. Also, Twitter is definitely used more by males, they clock in at 66% of twitter users.

Depending on the size of your company and your industry you might want to think about getting your Twitter profile verified. Note that they only except application to verify your account in the following industries:

  • Acting
  • Fashion
  • Government
  • Politics
  • Religion
  • Journalism
  • Media
  • Sports
  • BUSINESS
  • Other key interest areas
 
If twitter accepts your application and verifies your profile, a badge with a blue checkmark inside of it will appear next to your handle. This symbolizes an authentic account. Being verified prevents your audience members from following and being confused by impersonator accounts with similar content, usernames, and handles to yours. A verified account also makes your business look legitimate and trustworthy.
