WEEKEND UPDATE
Dear St. Patrick Family,

Praised be Jesus Christ! I hope that you are all doing well, staying healthy and adapting with grace to the new normal. Whenever there is a crisis, there is an opportunity to adapt and grow stronger. We believe this because of God's faithful love. St. Paul wrote, "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28. This is not simply a nice saying for the naive. It is true. It says that Jesus is our foundation, our hope. When we put our hope squarely on Heaven and that God will lead us there, we can use the resources of this earth freely and with abandon for good. No need for hoarding - we can't take that with us when we leave earth.

I hope that you are praying well. When we surrender our fears to God, he is there.

About a week ago I had a dream - to contact every person who is registered in our parish. I knew I couldn't do it on my own, so I worked with our amazing staff and volunteers to make it happen. We divided the parish into 51 neighborhood groups, identified one person in each group to lead and asked them to call each person in their neighborhood. We began Thursday and should be done by Saturday. Hopefully, you received a call from a Catholic in your neighborhood. If not, send me your contact info - pastor@stpatrickhutto.org - and we will update your info. For our Religious Education families, we asked their teachers or leaders to contact them. It is going very well and I'm extremely grateful for our amazing, generous volunteers. I'm also grateful for God's dream - that we be connected together in Him.

I encourage you to use these slow days well - get connected! Connect to God with prayer. Connect to others - call 5 people daily. Connect to your heart - enjoy some silence and take a nature walk.

United in Christ Jesus,

Fr. Brian Eilers
Pastor
