Second Mobile Vaccination Clinic a Success!
We are so pleased to share that yesterday we held another Mobile COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic, in partnership with the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit for people with an intellectual disability and essential caregivers.

70 people received their first dose of the Moderna vaccine, including people receiving supports from Community Living Essex County, Christian Horizons, Family Services Windsor-Essex, and Windsor Essex Brokerage. Pictured above are Josh and Dave, who both received their first dose yesterday.

We are so thankful for the strong partnership we’ve developed with the WECHU and we are thrilled to be working with our community partners to be able to provide this opportunity. Vaccinating people receiving supports through CLEC and other agencies in our community is an important step in moving forward.
Celebrate Community Living Month in Ontario!
May is Community Living Month in Ontario, and landmarks across the province are lighting up blue and green to #ShineALight on Community Living!

Today, May 6th, both the CN Tower and the Toronto sign in Nathan Philips Square will be lit up blue and green. We’re asking you to get involved during the month of May and help us celebrate Community Living Month!

Whether you wear blue and green, bake cookies or cupcakes in the Community Living colours or decorate your house with blue and green posters, balloons, wreaths or ribbons we want to see it!

Send your photos to Natalie at nkristy@communitylivingessex.org and we will share them on our social media channels and in the Possibilities newsletter.
New iPad Gives Clayton Ability to
Reconnect With His Family
Clayton received one of the iPads we purchased with the funds raised during our 2020 Giving Tuesday campaign.

Clayton loves to play games on his new iPad and looks forward to connecting with family over Facetime. He is also really enjoying researching new recipes he would like to try, as well as having fun taking selfies!

Clayton would like to say a big thank you, as this iPad opens up a lot of possibilities for fun and reconnecting with his whole family again!

A Bright Side in Dark Times
A nurse working on the frontlines in the Ottawa Hospital is singing to her patients in the intensive care unit, letting them know they are not alone during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Ottawa Hospital shared a video on social media of endoscopy nurse Amy-Lynn Howson standing outside a patient's room in the ICU with a guitar, singing her song, "You Are Not Alone." You can read the story here, and you can hear her sing in this video.

Scrap Wood Frames
Supplies needed to make these scrap wood frames:
  • Scrap wood pieces
  • Wood stain
  • Paintbrush
  • Rag
  • Twine
  • Embellishments
  • Hot glue
  • Pictures
Instructions:
  • Cut your boards to size or use them at whatever length they are at. Sand if needed.
  • Stain the boards any colour that you wish. Use a light grey stain for a rustic look. Paint on the stain with a paintbrush, allow to sit a few minutes, then wipe away excess with a rag.
  • Wrap around one end with some twine and tie in the back.
  • Use hot glue to secure on a variety of embellishments. Think flowers or even burlap accents!
Then your scrap wood frames are ready for display or even to give as gifts.
Just slide your picture under some of the strands of twine on one end. So simple and so cute! They just stand up on their own without anything additional in the back.
