You may have heard that the Secretary of the Treasury has moved the April 15 filing deadline to July 15, 2020 for your 2019 personal, federal tax returns. What this means for you and your family is:
- The Secretary of the Treasury has extended the 2019 federal filing deadline to July 15, 2020. No interest or penalty will apply during that period.
- Currently NC taxes are due April 15, but that may change.
- If you ordinarily pay a federal first-quarter estimated tax payment due April 15, that is deferred until July 15, 2020.
- You MAY still owe a second-quarter estimate due June 15 but that is also developing at this time.
