Volunteer and Help QACDG Flourish in 2021
The new board for QACDG is ready for the year ahead and its new challenges. At least now we have an idea of what to expect, kind of.
Still needing to fill a couple of positions. With more Zooming going on, help is needed to set up and start some get-togethers so we can continue heading back to "normal." Normal being when we can finally meet in-person, for that is the goal.
Another person is needed to help Ms. Bev with the newsletter, sending out messages and whatnots by way of Constant Contact, our communications platform. I'm doing a third stint as President and I can use just a bit more help with Cyberspace until we can get into our own space again.
Call me!

Meet the Beekeepers
Starting in January 2021, the four beekeepers for the Community Service Bee are Gail Benz, Dianna Lawrence, Anna Rasmussen and Carol Wilkerson. Our contact information is listed in the QACDG directory. Call or email us if you need supplies and cannot attend the regularly scheduled driveway events on the third Thursday of each month.
How we Help Our Community
The Community Service bee is open to anyone. Our group makes lap quilts (approximately 45” x 45”) for children, adolescents and adults, and infant quilts (approximately 30” x 40”); pillowcases primarily for hospitalized children; flannel hearts for NICU parents and babies; tote bags; and medical dolls and gowns for children facing surgery. We also make red, white and blue quilts for Fisher House veterans.
What Size Quilts Are Needed?
Quilts that can be quilted with 45” (either length or width) of batting are the best size to maximize our supplies. Lap quilts are great, but we accept all donations!
Pick Up and Drop Off in the Driveway
The beekeepers continue to host a meeting on the third Thursday of each month. Starting in January 2021, we began meeting in Anna’s driveway. All four beekeepers offer our porches for donation drop off. Email or text us when you plan to make a drop-off.
Can You Quilt?
We have several pieced tops that need to be quilted. Community Service provides the batting and backing. If you can do the quilting, please email Anna, Gail, Dianna, or Carol.
Infant and Toddler Quilts Needed by June of 2021
We anticipate a request for 25 small, infant and toddler quilts (approximately 30” x 40”) by June.

Gretchen Brooks
Here are two quilts that I have completed in the last couple of months:
- Black and white: Christmas present for my daughter
- Green: Birthday present for a friend

Linda Cowell
Here are some items I've been working on:
- I made Christmas stockings for my newborn great-granddaughter and her Daddy. The language is Greek. And I embroidered some ornaments.
- I made this floral garden top for community service.
-
I finished this 98” x 98” top during April and May. I thought it would never be done. You can find the pattern on YouTube under “Gourmet Quilter.”

Joyce Dewsbury
