Meet 18 Nominees for Educator of the Year

With Educator of the Year less than a month away, it's time to learn more about our 45 nominees. These nominees lead, assist, and inspire each day they walk into their school and impact the lives of students, parents, colleagues, and their community.

Each week, the ROE will be publishing bios on 9 nominees. Stay up to date with Educator of the Year by following the ROE on Facebook and Twitter and by using #EOTY42 and #leadassistinspire. Join us on April 28th at the Q Center in St. Charles for the 42nd annual Educator of the Year Awards. Tickets for the evening can be purchased through your local district office.

Save the Date: Lead, Focus, Connect is June 19, 2017

Looking for an opportunity to update and expand your knowledge as an educator? IARSS and ISBE are excited to announce Lead, Focus, Connect, a one day conference in Springfield, IL.

The conference will include IARSS and ISBE speakers and will cover a variety of topics. Registration opens April 5th.

Earn Graduate Credits and CPDU's from Summer Agriculture Institutes

The Kane County Farm Bureau is offering two summer institutes that allow educators a chance to have a unique look at agriculture and local farms to help educators understand how farm products become our food, feed, fuel, and much more.

CPDU's are available through the ROE and Graduate Credit Hours are available through Aurora University. Two Institutes are being offered, with one focusing on overall agriculture and the other on STEM and agriculture.

Upcoming Technology Workshops For Frontline & Destiny 

In April, the ROE will be hosting several workshops detailing two computer applications, Frontline and Destiny. Frontline is an applicant tracking program for both Principals and Human Resources. Destiny is a library workflow manager. Attend these workshops to become a proficient  user and learn tips and tricks to help improve your workflow using these applications.

YWCA Chicago Educator's Conference: Empowering Educators

Are you an Early Childhood Educator? The Metropolitan Chicago YWCA is offering a conference for Early Childhood Educators to expand their knowledge, develop skills and share ideas with other educators.

The conference is on April 22nd and is at the College of DuPage. Registration is $70 and closes on April 19th. Participants will leave revitalized with new knowledge, a stronger professional network, and inspired to improve their programs.

East Aurora Principal Wins IPA's Middle School Principal of the Year Award

Congratulations to Crystal England, principal of Henry W. Cowherd Middle School in East Aurora School District 131 for being awarded Middle School Principal of the Year from the Illinois Principal Association!

Crystal has served in education for 26 years and is known as an active member in both the education community and her local community. She has been a state and national presenter on community mentoring programs, diversity, character education, police-school partnerships, school violence and safety, and more.
