Loaner Laptops Available For Students This Spring
In the interest of furthering the educational objectives of students, LASC's Library will make available a Google Chromebook or Surface Go for one academic year for students actively enrolled at the college.
Free Wi-Fi Offered On Campus To Students
To provide students with reliable, high-speed internet access — and in keeping with social-distancing directives issued by county, state, and national officials — LASC has launched “Drive-Up Wi-Fi." Students are welcome to drive to LASC, park in the parking lot and get free Wi-Fi!

LASC Launches Program Mapper To Ease Student Experience
LASC is pleased to launch its Program Pathways Mapper! The online mapper details academic opportunities at LASC in a concise manner while providing students with a clear roadmap of classes they need to graduate. Think of it as the college catalog, but customizable for each LASC student.
LASC's Award-Winning Theater Production Profiled by NBC-4
LASC's theater students have created a powerful and haunting piece of theater with their new virtual project titled "George Floyd." The "George Floyd" project is a combination of text, movement, and music, all woven into a ritual of release and healing. NBC-4 profiled the performance on Feb. 26.

In celebration of Black History Month, LASC's Art Gallery is pleased to present “Agency: Reclamation of Our Stories” - a solo virtual exhibition by Gena Rynae Smith. Smith captures the essence of the theme for Black History Month 2021; "The Black Family: Representation, Identity, and Diversity;" with her powerful narratives and mixed media work.
Odessa Cox Forum Celebrates LASC's Principal Founder
LASC's annual Odessa Cox Forum named in honor of the college's principal founder, Mrs. Odessa Cox, was held February 17. Because of Odessa Cox, LASC opened its doors on September 11, 1967. This year, her legacy was celebrated with a theme of "Find A Way Or Make A Way."

State Update: Chancellor Concerned About Low Application Rates For Financial Aid
Chancellor Eloy Ortiz Oakley said the low number of applications for financial aid are concerning the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office, especially for undocumented students who can get state-funded aid through the California Dream Act. Cal Grant financial aid deadline is March 2.
State Update: California Needs 'Common Application,' Higher Ed Panel Urges
California should develop a common application form for admission to all levels of public higher education in California, including the state’s community colleges system, according to recommendations issued by a task force convened by Gov. Gavin Newsom’s administration.
State Update: Governor Introduces Transfer Pathway For Community College Students
Gov. Gavin Newsom has released details for a “stand-alone dual admission program” in his proposed budget, which, if approved, would provide California community college students a more direct path to admission to the state’s public universities. 
State Update: Cal Grant Expansion Proposed
Nearly 200,000 more California college students could receive state assistance for tuition and living expenses under one of the largest expansions of the Cal Grant financial aid program ever proposed.

  • Through March 26: Filing period to petition for Spring 2021 graduation or certificate of completion
  • March 31: Cesar Chavez Holiday Observed. Campus closed and there will be no classes.
