PRESCHOOL PLUS UPDATE
As you may know our Preschool closed on March 13 when the church did. Our plan had been to open the Preschool August 3, 2020, but with COVID cases continuing to rise in New Mexico, neither the church nor the Preschool opened.

The Preschool Ministry Team (PMT) has been meeting to plan to reopen. When we were not able to open in August our staff and many of our registered families were unable to stay with us. This means that before we reopen we have to hire a new Director, teachers and register many new families.

The PMT met this week and decided that, with the uncertainty of how COVID cases will be this fall/winter, the amount of time we need to hire and train a Director and teachers, and register enough families to support the preschool, we have postponed our planned opening in January.

We are definitely planning to reopen Preschool Plus and want it to be as strong a program as it has always been, so we want to take our time to plan it well to ensure its future success.

We ask for your prayers for our Preschool, our former and future staff and families and the PMT as we anticipate and prepare to open Preschool Plus. Please watch the Disciple and the Preschool website,

http//:preschoolplus-abq.org, for updates. Please feel free to call PMT Chairman Barbara Stanfield, 505-275-8551, if you have questions or concerns.

Susan Brumbaugh, staff mental health counselor at St. John's, is offering a FREE weekly gathering on FRIDAYS at 9:30 am to practice mindfulness meditation. Each 30-minute session begins with a brief welcome, a description of the focus (e.g., breath, body, senses, emotions, thoughts), a 15-20 minute guided practice, and an opportunity to debrief and share experiences.
Anyone is welcome--no experience is necessary. (And, yes! It's okay for Christians to meditate.) If you want to learn more prior to starting, the sessions will be similar to ones she leads and records on YouTube. Each session will be hosted on Zoom. HERE is the zoom link. Please contact Susan Brumbaugh, counselor@stjohns-abq.org, or 505-506-6716, if you have questions.
